Who We Are:

Calico (Calico Life Sciences LLC) is an Alphabet-founded research and development company whose mission is to harness advanced technologies and model systems to increase our understanding of the biology that controls human aging. Calico will use that knowledge to devise interventions that enable people to lead longer and healthier lives. Calico’s highly innovative technology labs, its commitment to curiosity-driven discovery science, and, with academic and industry partners, its vibrant drug-development pipeline, together create an inspiring and exciting place to catalyze and enable medical breakthroughs.

Position Description:

This is a great opportunity for someone to contribute to Calico’s mission. • Act as administrator for compound management software tools and platforms
  • Ensure that digital records are accurate and synchronized with the physical storage systems
  • Use automated liquid handling equipment to solubilize, dilute, and aliquot samples for analysis by other labs
  • Create software tools to automated data handling, independently and in collaboration with Calico’s software engineering team
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to create sample management plans that enable us to effectively manage compounds from drug discovery projects, biological samples from in vivo studies, and human samples from large external cohorts or clinical trials
  • Establish best practices and procedures for the above processes so that Compound Management is an efficient and reliable function at Calico

Position Requirements:

  • BS/MS in science or engineering discipline, minimum 4 years of relevant experience
  • Previous experience with compound management software tools; hands on experience with Mosaic, CDD, FreezerWorks, or other inventory & LIMS systems
  • Experience with python, VBA or other programming languages for file handling, API requests, and data manipulation
  • Hands-on experience with commercial liquid handling systems (e.g. Hamilton Vantage, Agilent Bravo, or similar liquid handling platforms)
  • Detail-oriented and organized are critically important characteristics for this position
  • Must be able to occasionally move and lift objects of up to 30lbs
  • Must be willing to work onsite five days a week

The estimated base salary range for this role is $146,000 - $150,000. Actual pay will be based on a number of factors including experience and qualifications. This position is also eligible for two annual cash bonuses.
