About the team

The OpenAI Design Studio is crucial in building and maintaining OpenAI's brand identity, ensuring a consistent and impactful brand presence both inside the company and to the world.

We bridge product development, communications and marketing, weaving cohesive storytelling and brand representation across all touchpoints through our innovative design and strategic communication.

Communicating the advances and benefits of AGI is one of the most important works at OpenAI, and our goal is to do it beautifully, accessibly, and with transparency and authenticity.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced brand designer to help craft memorable visual experiences across events, live streams and global product announcements. You will create cohesive visual narratives for the overarching identity that will touch keynote presentations, large‑format screens, streaming overlays, spatial and merchandise. This role demands a blend of strategic thinking, hands on design craft and collaboration with the brands, marketing, events, motion and production teams.

What you'll do in this role:

  • From concept to completion. Produce signage, wall vinyls, wayfinding, apparel, stickers, and other on‑site graphics that set the atmosphere and communicate the purpose of the event. Leverage consistent logos, fonts and textures to deliver a cohesive brand experience.

  • Develop visual motion systems for live streaming. Design overlays, lower‑thirds, titles and other graphic elements that define the look and feel that will cross all digital programming.

  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams. Partner with motion, video, producers, artists and event planners to develop. Work closely with marketing, product and event teams to ensure designs align with our brand language.

  • Maintain and evolve brand systems. Work within established brand guidelines while refining and expanding them for new frontiers. Document design systems and share learning to enable consistency across the entire ecosystem.

  • Create and manage design timelines. Own and coordinate project schedules, ensuring milestones are met and teams stay aligned through the entire lifecycle of event design.

  • Scaling Global Events: Scale global events by building and leading a bench of exceptional designers, while fostering an environment that attracts, develops, and retains high-value talent.

You might thrive in this role if you:

  • Have 4+ years of experience designing for events—from signage, staging, and wayfinding to digital graphics, live-stream motion, and environmental branding.

  • Have a portfolio that demonstrates strength across event design touchpoints, including motion, typography, physical builds, apparel, and digital production assets.

  • Are adept at creating cohesive brand systems across physical and digital environments, ensuring consistency of logos, type, color, and motion in live experiences.

  • Enjoy collaborating with producers, event planners, motion designers, and marketers to translate brand identity into immersive, real-world experiences.

  • Balance creative vision with practical execution, delivering designs that are visually compelling, scalable, and production-ready.

  • Are comfortable working on high-visibility, time-sensitive projects, managing multiple deadlines while maintaining craft quality from concept through final production.

  • Thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments, adapting quickly as event plans evolve.

  • Appreciate the unique impact of live experiences in shaping how a global audience connects with OpenAI’s mission and technology.

  • Are detail-oriented and passionate about ensuring every touchpoint—signage, motion, print, digital—feels intentional and cohesive.

  • Help foster a culture of design excellence, mentoring other designers and setting standards for event design at scale.
