Headway’s mission is a big one – to build a new mental health care system everyone can access. We’ve built technology that helps people find great therapists with the first software-enabled national network of providers accepting insurance.

1 in 4 people in the US have a treatable mental health condition, but the majority of providers don’t accept insurance, making therapy too expensive for most people. Headway is building a new mental healthcare system that everyone can access by making it easy for therapists to accept insurance and scale their practice.

Headway was founded in 2019. Since then, we’ve grown into a diverse, national network of over 45,000 mental healthcare providers across all 50 states who run their practice on our software and have served over 1 million patients. We’re a Series D company with over $325m in funding from a16z (Andreessen Horowitz), Accel, GV (formerly Google Ventures), Spark Capital, Thrive Capital, Forerunner Ventures and Health Care Service Corporation.

We want your time here to be the most meaningful experience of your career. Join us, and help change mental healthcare for the better.

As the Clinical Strategy Manager for Provider Product at Headway, you will play a critical role in shaping our provider-facing technology by embedding clinical expertise into the product development lifecycle. You will partner cross-functionally with Product, Clinical, and Customer Experience teams to ensure our tools are safe, compliant, and designed to promote patient safety, clinical quality, and provider engagement.

You’ll bring clinical insight, research, and provider feedback to inform product decisions, helping to drive roadmap execution, documentation, and training. You’ll also support quality efforts, including incident and complaint investigations, and contribute to Headway’s quality improvement work.

This role requires strong collaboration, clear communication, and the ability to execute both independently and within cross-functional teams. Your work will directly support our mission to build a best-in-class digital experience that empowers clinicians to deliver high quality, effective, patient-centered care—at scale.

As the only tech-enabled behavioral health Managed Services Organization (MSO) built entirely on in-house software, Headway is uniquely positioned to transform the clinical experience. Today, we support over 40,000 clinicians and hundreds of thousands of patients nationwide—your impact will be felt across the country.

You’ll be great for this role if:

  • You are a licensed clinician with a current or recent practice.
  • You have 8+ years of post-graduate experience (LCSW, LMHC, PsyD, PhD, or equivalent) with strong experience in clinical quality, strategy, healthcare operations, or developing EHRs.
  • You are a quality guru – with demonstrated passion for reimagining how behavioral health quality is defined, measured, and operationalized. This likely means you’ve worked in health plans, health systems, and / or value-based healthcare startups. You have experience developing digital health products and/or electronic health records.
  • You are a collaborator and communicator – eager and adept at working in concert with product, operations, and sales teams to infuse clinical strategy across the organization.

You Will:

  • Under the supervision of the Medical Director, support the expansion of the Headway provider-facing digital product and platform.
  • Collaborate with Headway's specialized product teams across provider, patient, payer, and billing domains to identify critical product initiatives, ensuring comprehensive clinical input is integrated throughout all stages of product development.
  • Leverage clinical expertise to guide the Product team in developing and enhancing comprehensive processes that optimize patient care / patient safety, clinical quality, and experience on Headway's platform and technologies.
  • Distill complex clinical processes and language in order to move product implementation forward.
  • Define, track, and analyze performance of the product in key areas including but not limited to provider use/feedback, patient satisfaction, and overall clinical quality. Obtaining both quantitative and qualitative data to pinpoint areas of opportunity and delve deeper into complex, ambiguous problems.
  • Work with Education and Engagement Clinical Leads to improve clinician engagement and satisfaction with Headway products, support development of the onboarding training program, specifically around training providers to integrate with and utilize the Headway platform.
  • Orchestrate and secure cross-functional consensus among key stakeholders, including data analysts, designers, and engineers, to drive collaborative project execution.
