About the Role
As a Compliance Associate at Chime you’ll be responsible for managing the development, implementation and monitoring of a risk-based compliance program for our growing product offerings in the credit and lending spaces. You’ll ensure we adhere to federal, state, and local agency regulations; this will involve partnership with internal teams, as well as collaboration with our issuing bank partner’s legal and compliance teams, to facilitate quality and innovative compliance risk management solutions. You’ll work with internal and external business partners to obtain and maintain any licensing needed for Chime to offer credit and lending products. You will achieve success by leading yourself, the team, and the business to bring the best products to market for our amazing Chime members!
Responsibilities
- Be the SME and possess in-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local compliance laws and regulations applicable to Chime’s credit and debit programs, as well as proactively identify emerging compliance risks
- Implementation and maintenance of scalable compliance policies across the Chime’s various applications, systems, and operational functions to ensure adherence to any applicable regulations
- Assist in performing compliance-related investigations, risk assessments, testing, and gap analysis
- Prepare analyses to assist in identifying business needs for potential compliance issues
- Assess and execute on any remediation plans proposed by business stakeholders if violations or exceptions are identified
- Development and review of our business/support function procedures and internal controls, assessment and/or development of internal documentation as well as implementation of risk assessment policies and continued monitoring
- Review and provide feedback on member-facing marketing and product materials and communications for Chime’s debit and credit programs as it relates to any compliance concerns with program and brand requirements
- Contribute to compliance management reports to keep senior management and stakeholders aware of compliance issues and trends
- Apply and maintain good standing for required business licenses
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Requirements
- Have a minimum of 2-3 years of experience required legal or compliance monitoring/auditing in the FinTech space
- Have specific knowledge of key regulations including but not limited to: Reg B (ECOA), Reg Z (TILA), the CARD Act, and FCRA
- Love to collaborate and have the ability to influence both your colleagues and external vendors to achieve consensus on regulatory risk issues and appropriate mitigation
- Possess excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills
- Possess strong organizational and prioritizing skills
- Are results-oriented and work with minimum supervision
- Want to work for a fast-paced, high-growth organization
- J.D. and California bar membership preferred, but not required
- Supporting a credit card and/or lending program where you developed and implemented compliance policies, programs, and procedures, including regulatory risk assessments, monitoring and/or testing a strong plus
