Responsible for major and complex assignments with long-term business implications. This role contributes to the overall strategy and manages complex issues within mechanical design of new equipment and repairs for existing equipment.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Recognized technical expert in mechanical design of new equipment and repairs for existing equipment, knowledgeable in the design basis and configuration of BWR reactor internals, and static and dynamic structural mechanical analysis of the same.
  • Provide consultation to management, all design organizations, and supplier organizations.
  • Cognizant of ASME Code Section Ill and ASME NQA-1 quality standards.
  • Provides technical leadership in design reviews, task force, industrial committees, and design boards as necessary. 
  • Consult with and support the Chief Engineer’s Office in the execution of technical goals of the office.
  • Collaborate with other controlled title holders to assist in timely resolution of issues
  • Provide technical consultation to assigned organization and to other internal and supplier engineering and manufacturing organizations.
  • Enhance technical excellence in assigned design organizations.
  • Identify and recommend where improvements in knowledge of the specific discipline are needed or where technical training is needed.
  • Establish a total quality management strategy to assure early involvement on manufacturing process/producibility matters.
  • Provide leadership to help focus and integrate new technology smoothly into production.
  • Suggest areas where technology advancements are needed and recommend approaches/programs to pursue.
  • Lead/support study teams to address top problems within the organization or projects in focused technical areas.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or Chemistry from an accredited college or university
  • At least 8 additional years of experience in an engineering capacity

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • For the United States the preferred work location for this role is at the GE Vernova Nuclear Energy Headquarters in Wilmington, NC, but highly qualified (US based) remote candidates will be considered.
  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.

 

Desired Characteristics:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in an engineering or technical discipline preferred
  • Considered an expert in mechanical component design and analysis, boiling water reactor (BWR) applications, ASME code, engineering design and quality (independent verification and validation, design control) processes.
  • Experience in boiling water or advanced reactors and/or equivalent technical environment
  • Operating at a senior level within an organization  
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Leadership to pursue correct engineering process in adverse conditions
  • Able to interface effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Problem solving skills; Lean training/experience is preferred

 

The base pay range for this position is $148,000 to $200,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for bonuses, such as a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity. This position is expected to close on Friday September 26th

 

The company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% of salary in certain areas.
