#TeamNextdoor

Nextdoor is the neighborhood hub for you, your neighbors and the broader local community. Nextdoor’s purpose is to cultivate a kinder world where everyone has a neighborhood they can rely on.

Building connections in the real world is a universal human need. That truth, and the reality that neighborhoods are one of the most important and useful communities in our lives have been guiding principles for Nextdoor. Today, neighbors rely on Nextdoor in neighborhoods around the world in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Australia and Canada, with many more to come.

Meet your Future Neighbors

We’re looking for an experienced content strategist/copywriter to be a foundational member of Nextdoor’s Brand Studio. You’ll partner with the Brand Creative Director to lead the evolution of our brand as it extends across all Product and Marketing channels. You’ll work with our Product, Design, Marketing, and Communications teams to envision the future of Nextdoor—to develop the Nextdoor voice and to strengthen our messaging across all our product and marketing materials. You’re a creative thinker who loves breathing life into brands, as well as a systems thinker who can set up the processes to enable your collaborators to live and breathe the brand voice too.

The Impact You’ll Make

You love how words make a difference from the earliest design explorations through final positioning and launch messaging. You thrive in ambiguity, love bringing out the creativity in everyone, and you’re a team player ready to help create and implement an evolved brand—through collaboration, tools, and guidelines.

You’re a player/coach equally excited to roll up your sleeves with product designers as you are to evangelize the new brand tone or set up processes (think: a network of contractors for specific lines of work). You’ll manage a growing team in the Brand Studio as well as a small network of contractors.

  • Work with the Product and Marketing teams to shape the future brand voice of Nextdoor—relevant to current and new audiences
  • Partner with design, marketing, communications and product teams to create digital experiences (in app to emails, notifications to mailers)
  • Develop taxonomies and information architecture that helps scale our designs alongside the business
  • Plan for and write copy for web and mobile UI, emails, landing pages, launch announcements, and more
  • Identify gaps and inconsistencies in messaging and develop systems to address and overhaul the product and marketing materials over time
  • Evangelize the brand voice and tone, and establish content standards, throughout the organization

What You’ll Bring to The House

  • 7-10+ years experience content strategy and copywriting in brand marketing, product development, or advertising environments
  • Portfolio that demonstrates your ability to adjust your tone based on your audience
  • Experience writing product content for mobile and web UI
  • Quick on your feet; comfortable creating and iterating on copy that will be used in A/B product testing or performance-based marketing tests
  • Great brand storytelling voice, an eye for detail, and a sense of humor
  • Passion for neighborhoods and local community
  • Experience working with agile teams, including quick adaptation and iteration
  • Experience collaborating with external creative agencies and freelancers
  • Bachelor’s Degree in english, writing, or literature preferred
