Climate change is one of the biggest problems humanity is facing today. We are an early-stage start-up working on simple, delightful solutions that make a real difference in one of the worst contributing industries: waste.

Why is there so much garbage and why is the status quo for it to end up in the landfill or ocean? What if waste could be prevented by first being turned into something useful and delightful?

Chewie Labs is a soon-to-be launched climate tech start-up focused on eliminating waste, which results in ~5% of global carbon emissions and daily+ pain points in the home.

Chewie’s culture is rooted in science, creativity, and taking itself less seriously than the problem. It is a new type of company where sustainability isn’t just the side dish–it’s the main meal.

Equal parts thinker and doer, the Content Lead is obsessed with category, product, and customer-defining messaging and storytelling. This is a special opportunity to build a brand’s founding voice, channels, and impact. This leader will build a team of organic content creators across email, social media, and new channels, overseeing execution and results. This is a dream job for someone who can harness the infinite power of content to build a world class brand.

As the Content Lead you will:

  • Develop a content strategy for our organization…and then go and execute to it
  • Run the hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, annual aka forever content process
  • Innovate channels, features, treatments, types of production, delivery models, and more
  • Identify, select, and manage internal and external content talent
  • Be the creator and/or editor for content copy, design, and message
  • Be the internal leader of our tone-of-voice and how it comes to life
  • Be a champion for the power of content and creative excellence in our organization
  • Distill and digest something wonky to something interesting and relevant
  • Represent and meet the cultural zeitgeist
  • And let’s not forget…saving the world

Ideally you’ll have:

  • 8+ years in content, production, publishing, journalism, or entertainment related roles
  • Creative chops in writing, editing, and/or design
  • Demonstrated ability to create a creative content strategy and execute to it
  • Positive, collaborative attitude and drive
  • Love of macro/cultural trend analysis and integration
  • Proficiency with marketing up and down the funnel
  • College or equivalent degree
  • Kindness and empathy
  • A high tolerance for slack channel proliferation

Of course we are open to discussing accommodations where legally required, such as for medical or religious reasons. An Insider's view of Mill

What’s the vibe like in the office?

I think of our company virtue, Levity. There’s a high concentration of tie-dye, Slack huddles, brainstorming in the office, whiteboard sessions, puns and jokes. You can hear someone laughing somewhere at least once a day.

Cynthia

Electrical Engineer

What projects are you most excited about?

Creating a personality for Mill. There are no preconceived notions of who Mill is yet, we get to define it, that’s incredibly exciting.

Hannah

Social Media Marketing

How do you empower your team to be more creative?

We give each other permission to be elastic, to bounce back, to grow and notch forward. And delightfulness is everywhere – in the product, in our office, even in our naming conventions. The branding in surprise locations really solidifies the spunkiness of our brand…and the team!

Devin

Hardware Program Management

How does your team reward individual success?

In large corporations, you can be siloed off into specific tasks and you never see the end product of your work. At Mill, you start with a problem that you’ve identified, brainstorm a solution, bring it to life and test the solution; you get to see the end result of your work.

Benji

Product Design Engineer
