Job Description

As Director of Content Moderation Operations, you will establish the vision and drive execution of Wish’s content integrity initiatives, ensuring all content exhibited on the platform conforms to stated policy while promoting trust and safety. Platform Integrity is a top strategic priority; this role offers an exciting opportunity to have high impact at Wish, while enabling a safe and secure platform where our community can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote trust on the platform by detecting, preventing and blocking prohibited content on Wish (whether from users or merchants), including illegal items, counterfeit listings, misleading/ambiguous listings, inappropriate listings, distasteful imagery, and other types abuse/behaviors

  • Own the strategic vision and tactical day-to-day operations of Platform Integrity, including defining objectives, key results, and performance metrics for the Operations team 

  • Work cross-functionally with Marketplace Engineering, Data Science, Product Management, Finance, Legal, etc ensuring a cohesive and holistic Content Moderation and Policy Enforcement strategy while leveraging all tools at your disposal and delivering innovative content integrity solutions

  • Build, develop and retain a high performing team through mentorship, feedback and career development

  • Constantly evaluate, evolve and scale our approach to content moderation, including finding the optimal balance between technology (machine learning/rules) vs. human review and in-house vs. vendor-based solutions

  • Standardize and scale a multi-process, high-volume content review team, including evolving the team composition to support 24/7 coverage

  • Create and improve automated content integrity systems and tools to increase efficiency and effectiveness, while minimizing friction for good users

  • Develop, refine and implement content policies which ensure a safe and trusted platform, while also allowing for scalable enforcement

  • Manage relationships with third-parties including brands, non-profits and law enforcement agencies, with shared interests in ensuring content compliance on the platform

Qualifications

  • Over 10 years of experience in content moderation, trust & safety, risk, fraud, abuse or a similar field, preferably at a marketplace or social media company

  • Over 7 years leading & managing high-performing teams, including remote teams

  • Passion for protecting our community

  • High initiative, resilient and adaptive

  • Ability to influence and drive clear alignment with cross functional partners

  • Empathetic leader who can work with all levels of people and management and knows when to be hands-on

  • Strong communication, analytical and creative problem-solving skills

  • Never satisfied with the status quo, always looking to continuously innovate and re-examine “established” processes
