About the Team: 

The Crunchyroll Content team sits at the core of our business. It is over 20 people strong and spread across three offices -- San Francisco, Tokyo and Europe. The team oversees Content Acquisition, Content Investment, Partner Management, Strategic Alliances and Programming. The market is highly competitive -- acquiring the right content under the right deal terms is essential to driving the growth of our business.

About the Role:

Crunchyroll is seeking a dynamic and highly-motivated leader to serve as Manager of Content Acquisitions Strategy. Working in tandem with Content Analytics, this role will provide partnership and guidance to leadership as well as the greater Content and Operations team via rigorous analysis and insights. 

These insights will answer questions, force conversations, and ultimately drive key business decisions across acquisitions, editorial, curation and programming. This individual will utilize strong qualitative instincts, industry experience, creative thinking, and internal resources to map trends and forecast programming opportunities while frequently crafting presentations to communicate our strategy.

Location: San Francisco

Our headquarters is located in downtown San Francisco, where our group of cross-functional experts assemble to create experiences for Crunchyroll and VRV’s passionate communities.

A day in the life of our Manager of Content Acquisitions Strategy:

  • Partner with content analytics group to regularly iterate programming strategy driven by audience and industry trends
  • Manage the day to day programming and scheduling across all distribution platforms
  • Deliver meaningful in-person and written insights on programming trends, performance, the competitive landscape, and audience behavior
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize content distribution based on data, audience preferences, and best practices
  • Work with brands, marketing, and downstream teams to develop programming slate and license 3rd party content (as needed) that matches our brand's voice and long term growth plan
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to analyze industry dynamics in order to formulate robust and timely strategic planning
  • Identify growth opportunities through testing programming, publishing techniques, and promotion

About You:

  • 4+ years of work experience in Entertainment, TV, Media industry
  • Proven experience in identifying opportunities for business optimization and evaluating those initiatives
  • Strong analytical abilities/skills, including data analysis.
  • Possess an affinity for anime. A deep mental library of anime (and its nuances) is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills which will enable candidate to interact with a wide range of personalities/styles and establish effective relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and effective communications
  • Desire to learn, ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial setting, and an infectious passion for making things better
