About the Team
Our Audience Development team is responsible for one of the entertainment industry's largest fan communities, surpassing 30 million followers across platforms with growth steadily continuing. We are an award-winning group that prides itself on authenticity, wide content-producing capabilities, and strong audience understanding. We are looking to attract an experienced leader for our editorial programming and news publishing arm, engaging millions of outstanding viewers per month.
Location: San Francisco
Our headquarters is located in downtown San Francisco, where our group of cross-functional specialists assemble to build experiences for Crunchyroll’s passionate community.
About You:
- 10+ years of professional experience with 5+ working on content and publications, leading writers/editors
- Familiarity with a global fan base and experience growing international engagement through a localized presence
- Built and led hard-working teams, developed employees to grow their careers and mentored writers/editors to hone their craft
- Passionate about communication and storytelling with a skill for digital optimization, as well as outstanding editorial standards
- Familiarity with SQL queries and datasets
- Experience working with a product or platform team to improve SEO, UI experience, analytics, and to grow contributions to overall business goals
- Confident and directive, effective communicator and collaborator, driven and self-motivated
- Proficient in data analysis, use of databases and performance tools, shown to make analytical decisions
- Experience with fandoms and entertainment, interest in anime is helpful!
A day in the life of our Senior Manager, Editorial & News:
- Develop a team of hardworking managers and contractors, who create articles around the clock (and around the world) and program editorial priorities across site pages to millions of visitors. Mentor and develop employees to improve expertise across the team.
- Formalize and continuously update our editorial strategy in support of subscription, viewership, industry support and additional business lines (games, e-commerce, events).
- Align with Audience Development, Brand Management, Licensing and Public Relations teams on various cross-functional campaigns
- Lead all aspects of the development and design of our news platform and homepage programming elements working with product design and engineering.
- Establish and own important metrics for growth and revenue. Handle editorial budget.
- Partner with international leads to grow our news and programming impact across key languages.
- Advocate internally for editorial resources, present contributions, recruit data and research that demonstrates the value of our work and readers
- Meaningfully package processes and results through the creation of custom playbooks, case studies, and decks.
- Follow trends in publishing/content for our passionate fan base of anime fans. Derive ways to recruit and maintain new users, of all interest/experience levels.
