About the team:
The inclusive and diverse RingCentral UX team (Medium Blog) is based at RingCentral HQ in Belmont, CA, and encompassing interaction design, visual design, research, and content strategy. We work closely with local product and engineering teams and remote development centers in Odessa, Ukraine, St. Petersburg, Russia, and Xiamen, China. Our team has a voice at the executive level of the organization, reporting directly to the EVP of Innovation. We deliver our initiatives in an environment of collaboration, high productivity, and low drama.
About the role:
The Senior UX Content Strategist reports to the Director of UX Content Strategy and is responsible for developing cohesive content strategies, scaling and standardizing our editorial processes. You will manage content requests, reviews and iteration, implement full audits of existing copy, craft engaging onboarding flows, and mentor new writers who come onboard.
We’re looking for an experienced content strategist to help build our content development infrastructure as well as work in-depth in the product. You’ll do a lot of writing as well as look at the product holistically and make suggestions on how to make our communications better for our users. You’ll be working closely with designers, product managers, and marketing to identify what aspects of product releases need to be communicated to our customers and evaluating the best ways to do so.
You adapt well to changing priorities and different flavors of projects, from forward-thinking initiatives to clearly defined projects that move fast and are quick wins for the team. You must be able to work independently on multiple projects, engaging at all levels of the organization from individual contributors to executive staff. You demonstrate a passion for improving the customer experience and understand that culture is the foundation of success in UX.
As a UX Writer, you will:
Write clear, concise, and compelling UX content that focuses on helping our customers get their jobs done and promoting better feature adoption across all RingCentral products
Help define and scale editorial processes, standards, and quality measures
Maintain and evolve our product content style guide and glossary and educate designers, product manager, and engineers on how to use them
Build strong relationships and collaborate with designers, researchers, product managers, developers, marketing, and other stakeholders across the company
Direct content research projects to understand our customers’ communication needs and support insights-driven decision-making
Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor to the broader UX team as it relates to content strategy
Contribute to the growth and culture of the UX team
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university in English, journalism, communications, marketing creative writing, technical writing, information management or a related field
5+ years of writing experience in a global environment
Strong, proven content strategy development and product content writing skills, ideally at a consumer tech company
Strong portfolio of UX-focused writing samples and style guidelines for web and mobile applications
Excellent empathy for the customer – demonstrated success in applying Design Thinking methodologies and UX best practices
Ability to work through ambiguity and competing priorities
Preferred Qualifications
M.A. in English, journalism, communications, marketing creative writing, technical writing, information management or a related field
Experience writing for voice and/or video products
Experience with product localization processes and creating source content for global audiences
Experience crafting and governing content standards
