What you'll be doing:
Develop optimal data collecting and processing applications to handle large data sets. You’ll have the opportunity to design innovative data solutions and solve challenging problems.
Partner with fellow data scientists, engineers and data consumers to understand data and translate business requirements into technical design of data automation solutions.
Design and build reliable & performant data models and pipelines to provide actionable insights and accommodate needs from our cross-functional partners. You will have the opportunity to design the most critical & upstream tables in Wish.
Become a data expert in your business domain and help make the business team more data-driven.
Build proper data quality detection to identify data issues in the early stages and fix the problem to make sure the data landing time can meet its SLA.
Understand the Data Lifecycle and concepts such as lineage, governance, privacy, retention, anonymity, etc
Build and improve data tooling in partnership with internal Data Platform & Tooling teams
MS or BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Bioinformatics or a related field OR equivalent practical experience in Data Engineering
2 + years of experience as a Data/BI/Analytics Engineer using Python, scala or any other OOP programming language.
Expertise on SQL and knowledge of modern data warehouse, pipeline techniques and tools such as Airflow, Presto/Hive, Spark & SparkSQL.
Experience in schema design and dimensional data modeling
Familiar with data movement techniques and best practices to handle large volumes of data
Hands on experience on cloud-based computing services and data warehouses like AWS, Redshift, S3 File System, or similar
Excellent communication skills, particularly when explaining technical or complex matters to less technical co-workers
