Opportunity

We are looking to add a Data Engineer to our growing engineering team! The Data Engineering team owns UJET’s data warehouse and ETL/ELT pipelines. Our ideal candidate is an experienced data engineer who has built and maintained data pipelines and warehouses at scale and has meticulous code style and quality, with the ability to own the data pipeline end-to-end. Our team is distributed across multiple locations. We stay connected using email, slack, and zoom -- so, strong written and verbal communication skills will be critical to your success. 


Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain Fact and Dimension tables in Snowflake data warehouse 
  • Transition OLTP tables to fact and dimension tables in Snowflake using DBT
  • Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines pulling from OLTP and other sources
  • Work closely with business and product owners, and other engineers to create useful, easy-to-consume data for reporting and analytics
  • Execute full lifecycle software development for our data pipeline
  • Write well designed, testable, efficient code
  • Develop data tests for automation
  • Document and maintain data dictionary to empower a data democracy


Requirements

  • 2 years of experience as a database developer or code-oriented data analyst
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL. You should have experience working with pivot tables, windowing functions, aggregation, user-defined functions, stored procedures, dynamically generated queries, information_schema, common table expressions, correlated subqueries, recursive queries, complex data types, json extensions, and mathematical functions in at least one of the following SQL dialects: T-SQL, PL/SQL, PL/pgSQL, Snowflake SQL. Knowledge of mySQL is helpful.
  • Proficiency in python and javascript
  • Experience in building data pipelines
  • Experience working with Snowflake and DBT is a plus!
  • Knowledge of data security & privacy
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced, start-up environment
  • Experience in SRE/DevOps and/or API development is a big plus!
