Data Science Manager
About the Role
Chime is seeking a hands-on data science leader to manage and grow our product data science team. This role will be a part of the Machine Learning and Data Science (MLDS) organization and will lead the team in charge of our work in consumer-product, including creating recommendations for users, optimizing product growth, and guiding our overall data science strategy in product development.
In this role, you can expect to
- Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders and the team to identify, lead, and deliver on high visibility machine learning solutions that improve our member’s product experiences
- Contribute to data science strategy and roadmap and define technical excellence for data science at Chime
- Mentor and develop team members, and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement
- Increase team impact by hiring high-caliber data scientists to solve our most impactful machine learning problems
- Own data science requirements for our ML platform and work with ML Engineers to deliver on shared objectives
To thrive in this role, you have
- 3+ years managing/leading teams of data scientists and/or machine learning engineers
- 7+ years industry experience (consumer tech preferred) developing machine learning models from inception to business impact
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Machine Learning or STEM field, with experience building production ML pipelines (development, deployment, training, inference and monitoring) at scale
- Demonstrable experience with ML/DL toolkits: Keras, PyTorch, Tensorflow, scikit-learn, SparkML, spaCy, etc.
- Strong programming skills (Python preferred) with intermediate to advanced knowledge of SQL and the ability to wrangle data from many disparate data sources
- Hands-on experience with some of the technologies we use: AWS, Kafka, Airflow, Redis, MySQL, Postgres, Spark, Snowflake and Looker, among others
- Experience communicating and collaborating with leaders across a product organization, which include stakeholders in product management, design, user research, product growth and marketing, and engineering.
