About the Team:

The Data Science Engineering team develops methods to optimize advertising campaigns, defines new methods for measuring campaign performance, and applies machine learning at scale with more than 5000 models in production. Example projects include:

  • Bayesian statistics to model conversion rates and revenue

  • Thompson sampling and linear programming to balance campaign objectives

  • Stratified sampling and power analysis to run controlled experiments

  • Using Tensorflow and XGBoost on Kubeflow to predict a traveler’s propensity to convert

And as a part of engineering, we own the full data product life-cycle: from analysis and prototyping to production development. 

The Role:

We are looking for a Manager of Data Science to drive business, process and team impact with data science, team empowerment and collaboration. 

Responsibilities:

  • Write production code in Python, and can reason about algorithmic efficiency.

  • Inspire with the way you authentically communicate with data scientists, engineers, product managers, and leadership.

  • Solve data science challenges and innovate in the context of trade-offs.

  • Coordinate, collaborate and delegate to make sure that products are successful.

  • Solid understanding of what drives the products that you work on.

  • Drive business impact by designing, architecting, implementing, and delivering data-driven products.

  • Ensure your team is successful with inclusivity, mentorship, feedback, recognition, and career goals.

  • Partner with product managers and engineering leadership to create clarity, positive change and improve technology strategy.

  • Prioritize company and team goals ahead of your own.

  • Champion diversity on the data science and engineering teams.

  • Serve as a multiplier helping the team be more than the sum of its parts.

  • Determination and initiative to fill in gaps and drive projects to completion.

What you bring to the table: 

  • At least 6 years experience as a data scientist

  • At least 2 years of experience within the Ad Tech ecosystem

  • At least 2 years of experience managing (player/coach).

  • Hands-on experience building production-level ML and data products.

  • Expert-level understanding of data science topics.

  • Experience writing code and managing reports.

  • Experience applying agile methods to data science, and ideally have been a scrum master.

  • MS or PhD in computer science or a quantitative discipline.
