YOUR MISSION

MURAL is a data-driven company, both in how we operate our business and in how we build our products. As Director Director of Data Engineering, you will be in a tactical position to enable a fast-growing, successful company to build a lovable product in a highly relevant space.

You are a rare person who is highly technical but still able to navigate a rapidly changing, growing business. You work equally well with engineers, data scientists, and executive stakeholders, including the CEO, CTO, CPO, Head of Operations, and more. You are able to communicate a clear vision and lead others in achieving that vision. You’ve done it before at scale and are excited to be a leader at an awesome, growing company!

Our Data Engineering team builds tools, infrastructure, and processes to scale-out Data handling in a self-service way, for technical and non-technical audiences. You will manage a team of talented managers and data engineers working to enable access to data products and services. You will report to the Director of Data.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Ownership over all aspects of Data governance, ensuring that high-quality data is available to the business including management of the data catalog
  • Setting the technical vision and owning and advancing our Data roadmap to scale ahead of the business
  • Supporting the Product and Engineering organizations both to support key insights and to enable key product features
  • Providing a stable platform for our business intelligence and machine learning teams
  • Technical ownership of our data warehouse, ETL processes, big data storage and processing, and tools including operational responsibilities for data usability, availability, efficiency, and cost management
  • Integration with internal and external data sources

YOUR PROFILE

You are someone who is both technical and who works very well with key business stakeholders.

  • Two or four-year degree in a related field of study
  • 3+ years in a high-level Data leadership role
  • Technical background in the Data domain
  • Experience with data and data warehouse technologies like MongoDB, Redshift, Athena or similar
  • Demonstrated ability to work with executive stakeholders
  • Management experience including the management of engineers managers
  • A change agent who can get alignment with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Prior startup experience and thrives in ambiguous environments, a huge plus.
