The Data Engineering team is responsible for the efficiency, quality, and availability of Vungle data for both internal and external consumption. This role will help drive the operational planning and success of Data Availability, Engineering and Operations while also championing new technologies and methodologies which lead to more efficient Data ingestion and utilization. The Engineering Manager, Data is responsible for working as a part of the Data Engineering team on data availability planning and capacity planning, and working collaboratively with stakeholders including executives, Product, and the larger Engineering organization to support data needs while assisting with data related technical issues.

This role can be based either out of Vungle’s San Francisco headquarters at beautiful Levi Plaza, or our Los Angeles office in vibrant Sawtelle.

• Management 50%:
• Lead a small, high performing, agile software engineering team focusing on data.
• Contribute business features and technical improvements to our data infrastructure (primarily AWS/Kafka/Spark/Redshift, Scala/Python, Docker)
• Iteratively improve processes and automation to reduce failures and increase data load speeds.
• Streamline 1st, 2nd and 3rd party data loads and manage quality issues and other delays.
• Evaluate and enable data that drive Data Science, Analytics and Business Intelligence needs.
• Partner with product and engineering teams to maintain data pipeline and infrastructure, ensure fidelity and optimal functionality for all reporting systems.
• Act as a technology leadership resource for the Data team, and facilitate communications, problem resolution, and effective delivery both within and outside the team.
• Grow and mentor the team, encouraging the highest levels of craftsmanship and contribution to engineering and business goals.

Requirements:

• STEM degree, minimum Bachelors
• 6+ years total tech experience
• 2+ years in management role, managed multiple release cycles of a large product 
• Experience working on large (at least tens of TBs) production data infrastructures
• Very strong in:
• Scala, Java or Go
• Python, Ruby or Perl
• SQL and query optimization
• Cloud (AWS or GCP)
• Docker
• Practical experience implementing and improving SDLC, source control, code reviews, testing and benchmarking
• Collaborative attitude based on the recognition of shared goals, mutual respect and value of everyone's contribution
• Energy and commitment required for work in startup
• Interest in Adtech/Martech
