ROLE OVERVIEW
Benchling is looking for an experienced cloud focused Enterprise Architect who has deep and broad experience scaling SaaS enterprise systems. As an Enterprise Architect, you will drive and influence technology choices across all aspects of the technical development roadmap and evolving architecture. This role operates as a technical, hands-on leader in the Business Systems organization and is a strategic advisor for the business. You will also be responsible for leading evaluation of new software applications and will be a critical decision maker in current and future investments. This candidate will also help foster a culture of innovation and engineering excellence.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
- Influential position providing technical oversight for IT systems.
- Key decision maker in the evaluation of new software/SaaS platforms
- Responsible for definition and oversight of system integrations
- Responsible for informing cross-functional teams on recommendations, enterprise decisions and roadmaps for investment in improved or new capabilities, helping determine what capabilities the enterprise must develop to scale.
- Responsible for providing leadership and oversight of the project portfolio. The portfolio may consist of multiple, cross-functional projects of varying complexities, in support of strategic business initiatives and regulatory requirements.
- Drive operational excellence with best practices, monitoring and reporting across enterprise systems.
- Participate in the analysis, evaluation, and development of strategic plans to ensure the enterprise architecture objectives are consistent with long-term business objectives.
- Design, develop, and implement plans to translate enterprise system objectives into functional technology and business systems.
- Own, communicate & document the enterprise architecture vision and blueprint.
- Be a key contributor on architectural governance, create a center of excellence and mentor engineers at all levels.
- Research and identify the right tools and technology stack based on scalability, latency and performance needs.
- Assess technical feasibility by building rapid PoCs, find technological solutions for gaps, and create strategic IP.
- Increase corporate security posture by working with stakeholders and security to identify, quantify and mitigate risks.
- Go wide and deep across the org for technical gaps and solutions. Liaise with the product engineering team as needed.
ABOUT YOU
- Proficiency of application, data and integration architecture disciplines
- Experience working as a senior technical decision maker with enterprise and global SaaS experience, supporting business areas such as Go-to-Market, Finance, HR, Engineering, Product, etc.
- 10+ years hands-on development experience in enterprise SaaS platforms (Salesforce, Netsuite), integration technologies (Celigo, Boomi, etc.) within high-tech companies.
- Demonstrable experience architecting and leading sophisticated business ecosystems, processes and life cycles (Customer, Employee and Partner): Salesforce, Netsuite, Quote to Cash, Advance Revenue Management processes, Integration platforms and more.
- Strong problem solving, troubleshooting, and analytic skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
EDUCATION
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, related field or equivalent work experience
- Salesforce/TOGAF certifications are a plus.
