You will support Tonal’s Hardware Quality team by identifying the cause of failure, testing and diagnosing products, writing and sharing reports, and making recommendations. You will collaborate with a cross-functional team to develop and perform various failure analyses on systems and components to identify root cause for NPI and sustaining. You will partner closely with Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Customer Success and Field operations to analyze product performance, help reduce field and install failures and drive engineering actions to contain and to implement corrective action to prevent reoccurrence of problems. This role reports to our Head of Product Quality.

What You Will Do

• Evaluate electrical and mechanical characteristics of components, sub-components, and systems to determine the root cause of failure
• Partner with the development teams and Operations to drive root cause from field failures
• Interact with design, firmware, process, product, test, and reliability engineering to solve problems
• Research technology to understand root causes of test failures
• Manage failure analysis activities
• Provide feedback to Engineering and Operations teams to improve product reliability
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
• Use various methods and equipment to perform failure analysis on customer returns, qualification failures, and other internal requests
• Prepare concise and detailed failure reports and recommend corrective action to prevent reoccurrence of problems
• Ability to read circuit schematics and layouts, and apply failure analysis procedures to identify the failure location and root causes (troubleshooting capability)
• This position will require local and international travel
  

Who You Are

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Science
• Experience in high volume consumer product development and manufacturing
• 3+ years in a Failure Analysis Engineering role
• Data-driven, ability to deep dive into data, establish trends, condense or visualize data
• Understanding of failure analysis methods
• Experience working with CM or JDM partners in Asia
• Great oral and written communication skills
• Team player with high integrity
• Open to feedback with an ongoing desire to improve
• High degree of self-awareness
