Lead Analyst, Portfolio Risk
About the Role
We are looking for a seasoned analyst who is data-driven and has strong analytical & technical skills. In this role, you will report to our Head of Risk Evaluation and will play a key role in evaluating and monitoring portfolio losses (fraud, credit and synthetic ID losses) and be responsible for portfolio risk related requests from our partner banks. You’ll work closely with risk, data engineering, analytics, finance and banking partnerships teams
For Colorado based roles:Â In accordance with applicable law, this role has an annual starting salary of $172,000 plus bonus, a competitive equity package, and benefits (see below). The actual pay may be higher depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
In this role, you can expect to
- Work closely with the team on evaluating and monitoring cohort level metrics related to transaction loss provisioning including dispute rates, credits, reversals, chargebacks and write-offs
- Work closely with finance and product risk strategy teams to forecast the month-end negative balances, associated reserve requirements and the amount of funds we need to send to our banking partners
- Work with internal cross functional teams to deliver on any portfolio risk related requests from our partner banks and banking partnerships team.. Examples include writing-off negative balances outside of our standard write-off policy, estimating the impact of updating our write-off policies across products
- Work with BI/analytics to create portfolio risk and negative balance dashboards
- Work closely with Data Science and Machine Learning teams to segment customers based on risk and help automate the process of forecasting and loss provisioning
To thrive in this role, you have
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Math, Finance, or other quantitative disciplines; a Master’s degree with a quantitative focus is a plus
- 6+ years of analytical experience, preferably at a FinTech company, and at least 3 years of experience in a Risk Analyst role
- Excellent SQL programming skills, advanced Microsoft Excel skills, experience in Python (or R or SAS or similar language)Â
- Excellent written and oral communication skillsÂ
- Experience in creating portfolio performance monitoring dashboards using Looker or a similar business intelligence tool
- Exceptional detail-orientation and organizational skills. You are eager to solve challenging analytical problems for the business
