Lead Data Scientist, Product
About the RoleÂ
In this role, you’ll be a part of the Data Science and Machine Learning (DSML) team that builds the next generation banking machine learning platform, and the engaging consumer app experience that goes with it. Your efforts will influence nearly every behavior in our consumer journey, from growth campaigns and initial adoption to in-app experience. You’ll contribute to Chime’s growing machine learning automation/decision making efforts, which includes building and deploying production ML models (data wrangling, feature engineering, model training, batch and transactional inference) as well as model monitoring, and causal evaluation. You will be able to use your expertise in consumer product experimentation, production machine learning models, and causal analysis to help Chime deliver a more engaging consumer app experience.
This job cannot be performed remotely in the state of Colorado.
In this role, you can expect to
- Become an expert regarding Chime’s consumer app experience and how ML can be incorporated into the product for customer benefit.
- Creatively leverage new and existing data to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of our existing ML-based product solutions.
- Partner with ML platform engineers to design machine learning solutions that operate quickly and effectively at scale.
- Work cross functionally with product managers, consumer engineering teams, user research, and design to drive Chime’s user experience.
- Proactively identify opportunities for using ML in our consumer experience.
- Drive projects end to end independently with a focus on results.
- Uplevel the DSML team through knowledge sharing, contributing to process improvements and developing internal tools.Â
To thrive in this role, you have
- 6+ years industry experience (consumer tech strongly preferred) developing machine learning models from inception to business impact.
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Machine Learning or STEM field, with experience building production ML pipelines (development, deployment, inference and monitoring) at scale.Â
- Deep understanding of and experience with a variety of machine learning techniques such as classifiers, recommenders, statistical models, etc.
- Prior experience working on consumer facing ML products as well as consumer product A/B testing.
- Demonstrable experience with ML/DLÂ toolkits: Keras, PyTorch, Tensorflow, scikit-learn, SparkML etc and other service such as Kafka, Redis, MySQL, Postgres, Spark, AWS, Snowflake and Looker, among many others.
- Strong programming skills (Python preferred) with advanced knowledge of SQL and the ability to wrangle data from many disparate data sources.
- A team player attitude with the ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and handle ambiguity.
