ML Engineers, Data Scientists at Shift build things that matter and have a material impact to the company’s bottom line and the customer’s experience. In this role, you will engage in exciting, meaningful projects, including evolving our sophisticated pricing engine and building innovative solutions to our ecommerce and operations challenges. We’re looking for an experienced ML Engineer to help us build tools that fully implement the power of the ML models that we produce.. You will work directly with Data Scientists, DevOps Engineers, and Product Managers and leverage our wealth of self-service capabilities and internal technical expertise. You lead by example and foster a culture of technical excellence, humility and lifelong learning.

What you'll do: 

  • Be a key contributor to Shift’s tech stack and technical processes, working with engineers, data scientists throughout the organization, partnering with TechOps and Infrastructure.
  • Demonstrate best practices by delivering high quality results to business.
  • Provide technical leadership for data scientists with supportive but candid feedback in code reviews and architecture documents.
  • Participate in build v buy decisions.
  • Participate in technical design, project planning and lead development of critical projects.
  • Bring new ideas, designs, and tools, drive technical discussions related to the development of pricing micro-service and technology stack. 

What we ask for:

  • Passion for data, technology and people. 
  • BS in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science.  
  • Practical ML experience with a deep technical background in supervised and unsupervised machine learning methods.
  • Experience with design and development of micro-services (preferable Python based)
  • Strong communicator - able to advocate data informed decision-making at all levels using visuals and narrative documents.
  • Strong analytical capabilities to translate business problems into data science problems and implemented solutions.
  • Experience with deploying to AWS SageMaker.
  • Redshift experience. 
  • Mentored junior ML engineers, led projects to the finishing line.

Nice to have:

  • Databricks experience.
  • Big Data Tools like Spark, DynamoDB
  • Experience with monitoring and instrumentation tech and vendors such as Segment, New Relic, Datadog, PagerDuty.
