Role Overview

We are looking for a passionate and seasoned Consumer Research Manager who can lead a team of 3+ researchers as part of a semi-embedded team within one of our Bay Area-based studios. As part of this role, you will be working with Studio teams and leadership to define research roadmaps with your team to identify market opportunities, inform game design and marketing while cooperating with the rest of the research team on other products.

What you will will do in this role:

  • Lead an in-house research team of 3+ to create relevant and timely research driving business outcomes related to product development, marketing, and strategy
  • Drive the integration of the studio’s behavioral game data and attitudinal research insights
  • Lead, coach and develop the team
  • Decide, in partnership with your team and stakeholders, on the right methodologies to achieve key research objectives
  • Drive the implementation of key projects, some internally and some outsourced to vendors, related to market studies, competitive analysis, segmentations, as well as UI/UX research
  • Manage the budget for the studio’s research efforts
  • Brief vendors and oversee research conducted externally
  • Ensure the research projects you and your team drive are timely, actionable and on brief

What you need for this role:

  • Deep experience in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies including clustering & segmentation, conjoint and max-diff, positioning research, ad testing, U&A and UX
  • Experience and ability to lead and manage a team to undertake projects under short deadlines
  • Understanding of the integration of primary research and behavioral data
  • Strong coaching, interpersonal and training skills
  • Experience in defining research programs, obtain buy in, and execute in time and within budget
  • Ability to provide creative solutions to problems
  • Great relationship building skills
  • Liaise with various Glu departments, such as legal, customer service, user acquisition, and analytics for the purpose of research
  • Experience in gaming/tech or entertainment industry
  • BA/BS required – Masters or MBA is a plus
  • 7+ years work experience in consumer insights or related
  • 3+ years managing people
  • Proficiency with Excel, Powerpoint, Word, SQL, SPSS or SAS, Tableau, R, Scripting
