Your Impact:

Handshake is hiring a Marketing Analyst reporting to the Analytics Lead on the Data Team. In this role you will have immediate impact by harnessing data to guide our Student Marketing team through rapid growth.  As a key member of both the Student Marketing and Analytics teams, you will have the opportunity to unlock new growth by building models, measuring channel effectiveness, and driving student segmentation.  As this small team continues to grow you’ll have the opportunity to help shape its expansion through data-driven impact and advocacy across the company. Your Role

  • Analyze and report on marketing channel and campaign effectiveness across a range of channels:  email, SEO, referrals, social, and paid advertising
  • Work with the product and data engineering teams to measure marketing impact on company goals and metrics
  • Segment student data to identify differences in performance and opportunities to optimize throughout the funnel
  • Develop new models, including marketing attribution and user LTV models, to inform marketing decision-making
  • Derive and share actionable insights from quantitative research data 
  • Develop unique stories from data for PR and thought leadership platforms 
  • Explore data to find actionable insights and make marketing recommendations through cohort analyses, long-term trends, funnels, user segmentation, regression models, and more.
  • Partner with email marketing to create data pipelines for personalized, data-driven email programs
  • Set up, analyze, and promote good practices for marketing experimentation and analytics.
  • Empower and guide others to work effectively and efficiently with data

Your Experience:

  • Background in a quantitative field (computer science, statistics, linguistics, physics, math, neuroscience, finance, biostatistics, economics/econometrics, etc.)
  • 4-5 years of experience in quantitative and analytical roles focused on web and marketing analytics 
  • Fluency in SQL
  • Experience in tracking and reporting on performance marketing metrics (e.g. organic traffic, conversion and bounce rates, search engine ranking position, etc.)
  • Expertise in developing complex data models in Sheets or Excel 
  • Deep understanding of statistical analysis and experiment design
  • Ability to start, own and drive projects to completion with minimal guidance
  • Excellent communication skills. Ability to succinctly communicate results and tell compelling stories with data
  • Familiarity and experience with modern data reporting/management tools, e.g.: Looker, Mode, Periscope, Tableau, etc.
