We are looking for a hands-on manager to join our team at Nightfall. As one of our founding engineering managers, you will own the technical output of the Nightfall engineering organization. You will ensure high technical standards by instituting processes (architecture reviews, testing) and culture (engineering excellence), and review and drive the long-term technical direction of Nightfall’s products.  

At Nightfall, we work with big volumes of data to detect sensitive information applying the latest ML/NLP methodologies from end to end. You will directly contribute to the core product by improving existing algorithms that highly scale in our production environment.

Responsibilities:

• Directly manage data scientists and engineers of all levels; provide feedback and guide promotions and leveling processes 
• Scope and plan key deliverables by working with engineering managers and IC's to ensure project planning of key initiatives
• Coordinate within the organization alongside PM, marketing, and sales to ensure delivery of key initiatives. Influence product strategy alongside the PM team
• Help to recruit, inspire, and develop a high performing and creative engineering team
• Work with highly imbalanced datasets to improve detection performance of our existing NLP models and algorithms
• Applying the latest cutting-edge advancements in AI/ML research to our current solutions in a scalable manner for online detection
• Champion engineering excellence and culture, establish metrics for regular improvement

Requirements:

• Minimum 6+ years of hands-on technical development experience
• Minimum 2+ years of experience mentoring and leading engineering teams that build and operate high volume distributed systems
• Experience running the day-to-day sprint process for an engineering team
• Experience designing and building systems in a microservices-based architecture
• Strong foundations in ML/NLP methods and algorithms
• Extensive experience with ML deployment frameworks
• Successfully led the efforts to design, implement, and deploy NLP models
• Familiarity with containerized applications, databases, and distributed computing
