Purpose
The purpose of this position is to coordinate research activities and provide support to the Director and the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) to facilitate the achievement of Calm Science goals and objectives.
Description
The Research Coordinator will assist ongoing research studies related to Calm’s research priorities while working closely with Dr. Huberty, the SAB and Calm team members. This position requires substantial capacity to work effectively within a team at a fast pace. The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong time management skills, and the ability to use good judgment in daily tasks. This position also requires very strong note-taking skills and the ability to prioritize, follow through, and flexibly complete research-related tasks as they arise. Applicants must be responsive to feedback and adaptable.
This person will also need to implement study protocols with high fidelity to ensure that we meet study accrual, retention, and data quality targets. Experience identifying, recruiting, and retaining patients in behavioral research is critical, as is experience working within a study team and interacting and working with diverse populations. Proficiency in Excel and strong writing skills are required. Experience using SPSS or other similar statistical software programs is preferred.
Job Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities include:
- Coordinate materials for IRB approval, including study documents, procedural documents, participant materials, and recruitment materials.
- Compose online surveys and set up projects through Qualtrics and/or REDCap (e.g., able to independently program surveys, schedule participant emails, extract survey data).
- Coordinate research studies, which includes identifying, recruiting, corresponding with, and retaining patients in studies.
- Work with clinical and community collaborators to identify potential research participants.
- Complete screening and enrollment procedures for ongoing research studies.
- Track progress of individual participants in research studies and ensuring participant retention including accrual and retention rates.
- Communicate with research participants (e.g., troubleshooting, answering questions).
- Completing administrative tasks (e.g., scheduling meetings, purchase requests).
- Work collaboratively with students or colleagues in order to develop and implement new studies and monitor data collection.
- Distribute participant incentives.
- Prepare summary reports of research studies to diverse audiences (e.g., formally, for peer-reviewed manuscripts; to be accessible and concise, e.g., for Calm team members, etc.)
- Conduct literature searches.
- Assist with grant, manuscript, or conference abstract preparation and submission (e.g., formatting references, identifying journals, and navigate online submission processes).
Position Requirements
Candidates must have completed a Master’s degree in exercise science, psychology, social sciences, public health, or a related field (or equivalent experience). The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience conducting behavioral health research, grant and manuscript writing, and working collaboratively as part of a study team.
Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on equivalent basis
