Role

The Senior Data Analyst will be a key contributor in creating useful, foundational data sets from our multiple raw internal and external data sources and using those data sets to derive insights that help the business operate. This work to improve our access to core data for the business will then open opportunities to do more advanced and exploratory analytics. The Senior Data Analyst will also set and uphold quality thresholds for the team and will serve as a coach for other data analysts on the team on how to work at that level of quality.

This is a full-time position based remotely.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with cross-functional teams and understand business needs to scope and build relevant data sets and data marts
  • Maintain and expand the data warehouse offerings using a combination of SQL, code, and scheduled jobs
  • Build dashboards and data visualizations (in Tableau) that provide insight into team and company operations
  • Run analysis on data sets and visualizations to derive insights that improve the operations of teams and the company 
  • Set and maintain quality thresholds for the analytics team via processes and best practices
  • Provide coaching and support to other data analysts 

Capabilities and Experience 

  • 5+ years experience in analytics, business intelligence, or a similar data-intensive role
  • Excellent SQL skills with 3+ years of experience querying and manipulating large complex data sets 
  • Experience scoping and writing queries to build data marts
  • Highly proficient in creating interactive dashboards and easily-understood data visualizations using software (e.g. Tableau)
  • Ability to interpret, draw insights, and formulate recommendations with large datasets
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to establish trust and strong working relationships with coworkers
  • Experience coaching and supporting other analysts 
  • Thrive in a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment

Above and beyond

  • Experience scoping business needs and shaping data sets to meet those needs
  • Experience using Python to analyze, format, and move data around
  • An understanding of Data Warehouse design, ETL (Extraction, Transformation & Load)
  • Experience working as a first or early member of a startup analytics team 
  • Experience with statistical toolkits, such as Python or R
  • Experience working in education or EdTech
