THE CHALLENGE

Eventbrite has a world-class data repository of live events, with our platform powering millions of events and hundreds of millions of ticket transactions each year in 170+ countries. We employ a data-driven approach to understanding the needs of event organizers and attendees in order to build the best platform to serve those needs. 

 

THE TEAM

As Eventbrite continues to grow, the types of questions we ask and the data we look at also grows, requiring us to work better and smarter. The strategic decisions we make to advance our business and community are guided by careful analyses and compelling insights from the Data Insights team. This team serves as the core data science function. We work closely with cross-functional teams including product, marketing, engineering, and sales to develop data assets, metrics, solutions, and insights to improve our operational efficiencies and build new data products to grow our competitive advantage. 

 

THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced, inquisitive, and capable senior data scientist who exhibits exceptional technical know-how and strong business sense to join our team. You will have full ownership over the projects you tackle, so you should be a creative self-starter who executes well. You will contribute to solving a wide range of machine learning applications, from developing sophisticated customer value predictions to intelligent ticket price recommendations, and find opportunities where data can improve our platform and company.

THE SKILL SET

  • Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or a related field
  • 3+ years of hands-on technical experience in a data science role or equivalent
  • Expert knowledge of machine learning, applied statistics, and experimental design
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, and/or R and familiarity with standard machine learning packages
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to synthesize insights into compelling stories
  • Experience with data visualization tools

BONUS POINTS

  • Experience with Hadoop, Hive or other distributed database architectures
  • Active Eventbrite user with a passion for live events
