Position Overview:

The Senior Database Administrator will be responsible for database management, specifically monitoring, maintenance and triage on the database systems for any situations that will arise. The Sr. DBA will work with other members of the IT team to ensure the server, network and storage needs of the corporate database instances are met.

The Sr. DBA will provide guidance and assistance to other members of the database team at endpoint. They will also be responsible for the management of the Data Warehouse systems, to include data extraction to the Data Warehouse, and transformation of data within the Data Warehouse.

The Sr. DBA will also work with the development, Operations, R&D and testing teams to help troubleshoot issues those teams encounter in the data tier, to include optimizations, security, data migration and backup/restore.

*This role must be office-based in Wakefield, MA or San Francisco, CA.

Responsibilities:

  • Understands general best practices for database and software development and is able to provide technical leadership and hands on database administration for the entire data tier.
  • Plan, develop and implement high availability database strategies, capacity planning, performance tuning, and site monitoring.
  • Plan, develop and implement strategies for extraction, transformation and loading of data to/in the Data Warehouse.
  • Manage processes used to migrate database objects from environment to environment in the development cycle (DEV > RELEASE > PROD).
  • Document detailed configurations of production and development environments.
  • Participate in the planning, implementation, and testing of the database portion of recovery procedures under the disaster recovery/business continuity plans.
  • Participate in system qualification efforts in a GxP environment
  • Available to provide troubleshooting and technical expertise for emergency production support as needed.
  • Perform software troubleshooting in a timely manner.
  • Provide Data Management support for production, development and disaster recovery requirements including daily customer-driven minor system configuration change requests.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • Master's degree in Computer Science a plus

Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2008+) in production or customer facing deployments.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server high-availability solutions and clustered environments.
  • Extensive experience writing T-SQL stored procedures and performing query optimization and tuning.
  • Experience with other database technologies to include MySQL and NoSQL solutions a plus
  • Ability to interact effectively with resources from the functional and technical tracks on the project team.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities is a necessity.
  • Must be willing to work on-call as part of regular work schedule and when required.
  • Experience delivering systems and managing data in a regulated environment
  • Process and detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
