Job Description

The Senior Manager of Business Intelligence is a newly created role in the Information Services team, reporting to the Senior Director of Information Services. The tremendous growth in our business has created an opportunity for a talented and motivated Business Intelligence leader to develop and execute an org-wide business intelligence strategy that will have an outsized impact on the future direction of the company. The leader of this team will closely collaborate with the senior leadership of numerous functions across Optimizely, including Product, Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, Finance, Legal, and Business Systems.

As the Senior Manager of Business Intelligence, your team of data engineers and data analysts will be responsible for acquiring, validating, enriching, modeling and visualizing business, finance, and product data. Your team will allow all Optimizely departments to base their decisions and planning on relevant data insights and foresight. Your team will put accurate, timely and comprehensive data at the fingertips of the consumers through dashboards, reports, ad-hoc analysis, or by embedding metrics in business systems or processes. You strive to reveal insights buried in different data sources leveraging state-of-the-art technology to drive operational excellence, robust planning, and meaningful forecasting.

Your team maintains and enhances our data infrastructure and governance as well as establishes best practices and system controls around them. You will work closely with senior leadership and operations leaders in the associated business units to identify, prioritize, plan and implement their data requirements. Your team assures that the data is accurate as well as used by and impactful to the business units. You work with the operations teams on enablement, documentation and will create governance frameworks.


Qualifications

  • You will establish a vision for an impactful Business Intelligence program leveraging your own experience and industry best practices
  • You will lead the Business Intelligence and Data Engineering team on evolving the data infrastructure, implementing reporting solutions, and running data projects.
  • You will partner with business operations leads to identify areas of improvement, bottlenecks, possible solutions, and determine business requirements.
  • Your team will develop and own data governance at Optimizely aligning the business on the metrics definition, establishing change control and maintaining the quality frameworks
  • You will act as a primary data liaison between Go-to-Market, Finance, and other departments, driving cross-functional alignment. Interface directly with leadership and business leads and create new reporting capabilities, elevating transparency across the organizations.
  • Your team will prioritize a pipeline of data requirements (e.g. support requests, ad-hoc analysis, and data projects), perform prioritization, establish timelines, and execute the projects.
  • You drive aligning, setting of Objectives & Key Results (OKR) for your team and holding them accountable towards making progress on company-wide goals.
  • You will coach and develop BI analysts and data engineering team members

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience in business intelligence and analytics; data engineering knowledge is a plus
  • 4+ year track record of developing talent and people management
  • You are experienced working with data warehouses and BI tools and technologies (SQL, Postgres, Looker, ChartIO, Fivetran, etc)
  • You have worked in a SaaS-based business and understand key business and data flows across different departments.
  • You thrive working in a fast-paced environment with rapidly evolving business needs
  • You have a proven track record of prioritizing requirements from diverse business partners and leveraging program managers to complete high critical business projects on time and budget
