Blend is looking for a dynamic, self-starter to join the Vendor Management team. As Strategic Sourcing Manager, you’ll provide subject matter expertise, business acumen and negotiation skills to facilitate selection and onboarding of third-party service providers. This strategic sourcing role is an excellent opportunity to drive impact across Blend and be part of an expanding team and Vendor Management program. You will be tasked with developing cross-functional strategic relationships to evaluate business requirements and cost optimization, as well as collaborate with risk stakeholders to implement a risk-based approach to onboarding third parties and guiding vendor lifecycle management.

How you'll contribute:

  • Review commercial agreements and lead business term negotiations to drive value and efficiencies across the organization
  • Act as a trusted consultant to business owners in vendor selection, requirements gathering and vendor performance management 
  • Oversee vendor onboarding activities including planning, inherent risk assessment and initial due diligence
  • Partner cross-functionally with Legal, Compliance, Finance, Security, IT, and other risk stakeholders to identify, mitigate and manage third-party risks
  • Guide business owners on oversight and monitoring activities, including QBRs, annual reviews, onsite visits, vendor scorecards and performance surveys
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts such as vendor rationalization, optimizing existing relationships, mitigating residuals risks and ensuring program compliance
  • Power through workflows with effective communications and keen sense of urgency
  • Generate periodic and ad hoc reports, and create dashboards with key metrics 

Who you are:

  • 5+ years of procurement, vendor management, consulting, and/or risk management experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Contract negotiations expertise, including understanding key commercial terms, issue spotting and developing robust SLAs
  • Strategic sourcing experience across technology and non-technology categories
  • Skilled at defining, influencing and driving procurement category strategies
  • Outstanding business acumen 
  • Strong critical thinking, project management and execution abilities
  • Skilled at building dashboards and generating reports
  • Ability to work independently and adaptively, and take initiative to resolve challenges

Bonus Points!

  • Relevant financial services or Fintech experience
  • Familiarity with OCC 2013-19 “Third-Party Relationships: Risk Management Guidance,” Enterprise Risk, Information Security and Privacy programs and regulations
