Why Divvy?

Over the past decade, millions of Americans have been forced to put their dreams of homeownership on hold. Home prices have outpaced wage growth while mortgage requirements continue to tighten. As a result, renters are missing out on a critical wealth-building opportunity: owning a home.

At Divvy, we're building an on-ramp to homeownership – one that's more affordable, more flexible, and an overall better fit for the modern American family – and it’s working.

We’re looking to hire a senior leader to become our VP of Data Science and help scale our growing company. In this role, you'll oversee the Data Science and Analytics orgs, with responsibility for managing and executing on the roadmap, hiring and scaling the team, and using modeling and analytics to influence our business strategy. Some of the current applications of modeling in our business include:

1. Asset Value Model - Our automated valuation model is responsible for computing the offer price on the homes we bid on and is core to our ability to scale.

2. Probabilistic Underwriting - Our proprietary risk model used to drive high efficiency underwriting decisions and manage towards a low default rate.

In addition to running the Data Science team, you will be responsible for managing the analytics team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, coupled with years of management experience, and ideally prior board exposure. While your day to day will not be primarily spent modeling, the ability to help mentor and dive in to drive modeling efforts forward is expected. Finally, a strong history of hiring and retaining senior talent desired.

You will report into the co-founder/CTO and have frequent exposure to executive team, board, and investors.

Responsibilities

  • Build and refine our default and/or pricing models using structured data
  • Identify, analyze, and acquire new data sources to improve model accuracy
  • Influence Divvy’s product offerings based on quantitative insights
  • Become a domain expert in risk and/or pricing

Work Experience

  • You have 8+ years of experience in machine learning or data science, with at least 4 years of management experience
  • You have a history of hiring and retaining senior talent
  • You have experience in either R or Python
  • You have a strong understanding of statistical modeling techniques
  • You demonstrate the ability to clearly communicate analysis
  • Bonus points for previous credit default modeling experience, risk management experience, and/or real estate pricing (AVM) experience
  • Bonus points for executive or board level experience

Perks

  • Competitive salary + equity
  • Full benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401k, commuter)
  • Diverse, smart, and witty co-workers
  • Divvy is a remote friendly company and all jobs are open to be remote if you choose not to be based in one of our HQ locations of SF or Denver

Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion

We prioritize a commitment to diversity in our team building process. We enthusiastically encourage individuals from a variety of lived experiences to reach out.
