We're looking for a Senior Database Engineer (DBA) to join a global, follow-the-sun team supporting mission-critical database platforms. This role plays a key part in ensuring the availability, performance, and resilience of our database environment supporting clearing operations.
You'll work across a diverse technology stack including SQL Server, Oracle (including Exadata), and PostgreSQL, within a primarily on-premises infrastructure. While SQL Server is the core focus for this US-based role, we welcome expertise across any of these platforms, as our global team collaborates closely across regions (Chicago, Europe, and APAC).

Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of production and non-production database environments
- Manage production, development, and disaster recovery systems
- Monitor database performance proactively and implement improvements to minimize downtime
- Perform capacity planning and trend analysis to support future growth
- Lead and support database upgrades, enhancements, and maintenance activities
- Collaborate with engineering, architecture, and business teams to deliver scalable solutions
- Troubleshoot incidents and act as an escalation point, including interaction with third-party vendors
- Develop and maintain automation for monitoring, alerting, and routine maintenance
- Design, test, and execute High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies and runbooks
- Contribute to global infrastructure initiatives and ongoing modernization efforts
- Support a rotating on-call schedule and participate in cross-region handoffs
Basic Qualifications:
Core Experience
- 8+ years of hands-on DBA experience in enterprise environments
- Strong background supporting mission-critical, high-availability systems
- Experience working in on-premises infrastructure environments
- Ability to participate in an on-call rotation
SQL Server Expertise (Primary Focus)
- Installation, patching, and administration
- Advanced performance tuning and query optimization
- Backup/recovery strategies and disaster recovery planning
- Hands-on experience with:
- Always On Availability Groups
- Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC)
- Log shipping and replication strategies
- Strong T-SQL development (stored procedures, functions, triggers, CTEs)
- Experience with data compression, encryption (TDE), and migrations
Oracle (Nice to Have)
- Experience with Exadata and/or Oracle Database Appliance (ODA)
- OEM administration, patching, and upgrades
- Performance tuning and migration experience
- Familiarity with scripting (bash, awk, sed, PowerShell)
- Understanding of OS-level troubleshooting and networking basics
PostgreSQL (Nice to Have)
- Experience with logical and physical replication across environments
- Strong installation, patching, upgrade, and automation experience
- Performance tuning and troubleshooting expertise
- Backup and recovery using tools such as pgBackRest or Commvault
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in financial services or regulated environments
- Familiarity with tools like Jira and ServiceNow
- Exposure to global, distributed teams and follow-the-sun support models
