The Role
Afterpay is looking for a Creative Director, Content to join our Brand Team and help shape and lead the Afterpay brand. The Creative Director, Content is responsible for generating content from concept through to execution for all owned channels and partner marketing needs. Reporting into the VP Brand, this role will work closely with the regional leads and growth team to create a content strategy that supports and extends marketing initiatives across our owned channels, including social and digital advertising. This lead will manage the storytelling workflow to meet deadlines and cross-functional planning initiatives as well as work closely with cross functional teams to develop an omni content calendar. They will ensure all content is on-brand, consistent in look and feel, quality and tone of voice, and optimized for search and user experience for all channels of content. In addition to supervising designers, writers, editors; this role will work closely with production and brand studio teams on all creative and branding initiatives to ensure a consistent message across channels as well as collaborating with the regional teams on all content including partner launches, product launches, product naming, and legal and compliance. This role is based in San Francisco, CA.
Key Responsibilities
-Develop storytelling, voice identity and editorial strategy for Afterpay channels and partner marketing needs
-Provide oversight for all brand editorial to ensure the visuals and voice is differentiated and consistent
-Develop partnership ideas for new brand/business pitch presentations
-Develop innovative multi-platform campaign editorial to consistently drive attention and brand engagement
-Lead, mentor and inspire a team of designers and writers and oversee the day-to-day execution of all brand storytelling needs
Minimum Qualifications
-Minimum 10 years experience in brand messaging and/or editorial development for media outlets or brands
-Advanced strategic thinker with experience in brand “big idea” development, product positioning and naming, campaign messaging, and executional copywriting.
-Excellent conceptual, visual, verbal, organizational and messaging skills
-Experience leading and mentoring a team of several copywriters at all experience levels, and developing team talent.
-In house brand or publication experience a plus
