Calm was co-founded by Alex Tew (Million Dollar Homepage) and Michael Acton Smith (Mind Candy, Moshi Monsters, Firebox).
Mission
Calm is looking to hire an experienced Creative Director to help manage, expand and evolve our brand across a wide range of touch-points, both physical and digital. The right candidate will be a strong leader who can manage, inspire and grow a team to produce their best work and help craft a global brand that is not only widely known but also much loved.
Outcomes
- Build on top of Calm’s successful brand positioning with a strategy that takes us well into the 2020s.
- Create brand consistency, ensure that company-wide materials support and strengthen Calm’s brand and personality.
- Manage, mentor and develop a small yet nimble team. Directing, inspiring and delivering on our creative vision. Developing a culture and environment conducive to producing high-quality and high-impact work.
- Collaborate with marketers, producers, designers, copywriters, and artists, among other partners daily to accomplish first-class work.
- Champion bold ideas and inventive approaches to solving areas of opportunity, presenting and fostering adoption with our executive team and other company stakeholders.
Competencies
- Extensive experience, preferably in consumer technology or technology-enabled companies.
- Passionate about brands, ideas, stories, design, and experiences. Success applying that passion towards brand development, marketing campaigns, and customer experiences both digital and in-person.
- Produced award-winning or industry heralded work, understanding the underlying trends and climate to do so again.
- Skilled at telling compelling stories about brands to multiple audiences, through breakthrough visual or experiential design and creative, with digital savvy and literacy.
- Experience managing a team and have demonstrated the ability to lead, develop and retain a growing team, set goals, delegate responsibilities, hold teams accountable for outcomes, and provide thoughtful learning-oriented feedback.
- Experience leveraging data and consumer insights to inform brand and creative strategy, and can champion the magical intersection of data and creativity.
- Straddles the creative spectrum, who understands the skills and execution requirements across visual design, art direction, copywriting, brand positioning, and other disciplines.
- Passionate or interested in the mindfulness and sleep space is a plus.
