Product Design Manager, Platform

TEAM OVERVIEW
The Product Design team at Benchling is committed to building user experiences that support the scientists who are solving the world’s most important problems. Our work has a direct impact on making scientific workflows more efficient while improving the quality of that research—ultimately helping to drive the biotech revolution.
ROLE OVERVIEW
As the Product Design Manager in our Platform pillar, you will lead a design team working on our ambitious platform roadmap that includes enterprise administration and common application infrastructure. Your team will work closely with customers, cross-functional partners and our Product and Engineering teams to bring simplicity and consistency to the Benchling user experience.
A great leader for this team will deliver user experiences that enable customers at scale and foster a culture where your design team can thrive.
YOUR IMPACT
- Build and lead a diverse team working on our platform capabilities
- Work with Product and Engineering to shape our platform, strategy, scope, and prioritization
- Connect the dots across product areas to create a cohesive user experience
- Communicate and align with stakeholders to keep them informed on the team's progress and goals
- Contribute to building a culture of design in a company that recognizes user experience as a key differentiator
- Support the career development and growth of Product Designers on your team and foster a fun and inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome
ABOUT YOU
- 2+ years of managing a team that values quality craftsmanship and continuous growth
- Experience building and maintaining a design system for complex product architectures
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain the reasoning behind design decisions
- A strong portfolio of relevant design work that conveys an ability to successfully ship products
