Instructional Designer x2
Cisco Meraki is seeking a knowledgable and creative Instructional Designer to help build Meraki’s instructor-led and e-learning technical training curriculum and to support the library of content for all of our training programs worldwide.
The Training & Evangelism team helps drive market adoption of Meraki among Cisco, partner, and customer audiences. We do this by developing, promoting, and delivering scalable programs that build knowledge and create passion among participants.
You will work with a geographically distributed team of content experts, technical instructors, program managers, and other organizational stakeholders. The position requires strong project management skills, extensive pedagogical and course design knowledge, strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to move projects with many stakeholders forward in a timely manner, and experience with various aspects of distance learning.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop various modalities of learning (blended, e-learning, classroom, and virtual learning experiences) using ADDIE and AGILE methodologies
- Understand learning needs and gaps to research, recommend, design and implement training and development initiatives
- Apply instructional design expertise while adhering to a consistent learning content strategy
- Convert complex technical information into clear and easy-to-follow instructions by consulting with subject matter experts on concepts, techniques, and creative applications
- Partner with subject matter experts and team members to identify training requirements and validate training curriculum
- Analyze performance data to determine learning objectives that deliver business results, drive behavior change, and increase performance
- Effectively use various learning development tools such as Camtasia and Articulate to create engaging learning experiences
- Evaluate the business impact of learning programs through the use of learning and performance metrics to ensure results are achieved and learning is retained
- Engage in professional development to stay abreast of learning theories, pedagogies, and technological developments
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to develop innovative instructional approaches in a variety of curricula
- Outstanding written, verbal, critical thinking, problem solving, and interpersonal communication skills
- Experience creating videos with an emphasis on script and storyboard development
- Ability to exhibit creativity, self-direction and the capacity for independent work, and organizational skills
- Substantial working knowledge of educational technology tools for interaction and assessment within an LMS (Learning Management System)
- Significant experience in the design, development, implementation and evaluation of end-user technical applications training
- Deep understanding of adult learning principles such as Bloom’s Taxonomy, Gagne, Kirkpatrick’s Levels of Evaluations, and other instructional design concepts
Other Requirements:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in instructional design, curriculum and instruction, adult education, or a related academic discipline. A Master’s Degree is preferred.
- Knowledge of the IT industry and networking fundamentals highly desired
- Knowledge and experience using tools such as the Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office highly preferred
- 5+ years of relevant experience in instructional design or similar role
- SCORM, HTML5, xAPI, mobile learning and adaptive learning experience desired
- Strong English is required
