The Team
Torch's Professional Services team partners with clients to maximize their investment in our learning and development platform. We do this by fostering strong relationships with our customers and delivering exceptional results.
The Instructional Designer will be responsible for designing a corporate curriculum that delivers learning on our platform to address various use cases, including new manager skills, diversity/equity/inclusion initiatives, high potential programs, and onboarding talent. Additionally, the Instructional Designer will be responsible for providing training and learning materials to help our facilitators and clients deliver effectively to program participants.
As the Instructional Designer, you will work closely with our Customer Success, Delivery, and Sales teams to ensure our customers have the best content design experience and outcomes that meet their organizational objectives.
The Instructional Designer will report to the Director of Professional Services.
Your Position:

    • You will quickly become an expert on Torch's learning and development platform.
    • You will create engaging learning activities and compelling course content to address client business needs.
    • You will work with clients to identify the target audience's training and development needs.
    • You will set instructional end goals and create content to match those goals.
    • You will develop instructional graphics, the user interface, and the finished product.
    • You will analyze and apply trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design.
    • You will provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process.
    • You will devise modes of assessment, such as tests, quizzes, and/or feedback surveys, to measure the effectiveness and impact of the course.
    • You will present recommendations to clients and work iteratively to ensure the final solution supports their business needs.
    • You will develop and own all content development processes.
    • You will maintain project documentation.
    • You will generate and maintain customer content design timelines and adhere to their learning requests.
    • You will coordinate cross-functionally with teams responsible for implementing our client's goals and needs (e.g. Customer Success, Delivery, and Sales) and translate them into actionable learning deliverables.
    • You will collaborate with product teams to support product feedback channels.
    • You will guide, maintain, and enforce departmental practices, methodologies, policies, and procedures.


Your Experience:

    • You have at least 5+ years of experience designing curriculum for professionals working in a corporate/enterprise environment.
    • You have experience designing learning initiatives using an asynchronous mechanism (i.e., a learning management system (LMS) or a learning platform)
    • You have extensive experience designing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
    • You have in-depth knowledge of contemporary learning theories and instructional design models.
    • You can write effective copy, instructional text, audio, and video scripts.
    • You are versed in relevant and appropriate assessment procedures.
    • You have superb written and verbal communication skills.
    • You have the ability to source and utilize verified information to create courses.
    • You are comfortable working directly with clients to scope learning objectives and iterate on learning content.
    • You have a degree in Instructional Design, Research, Organizational Psychology, or similar.
