A bit about our team

Our team is small and nimble, and growing quickly. We design and release new features at a rapid pace, leverage experiment results and insights, iterate on designs and make long term impact. Each designer has the opportunity to work on a number of individual projects from ideation through execution. We’re looking for experienced designers who are passionate about serving the often neglected demographic of lower-income, value-conscious consumers by designing better experiences that make impactful change. All designers on the team have an influential voice in determining the future business and design strategy at Wish. We are challenged by leadership to disrupt both existing work processes and thriving business models, to envision and build the future of affordable shopping.

Job Description

At Wish, designers trust their instincts to ship early and often, blend impeccable craftsmanship with analytical thinking to produce designs that touch every aspect of the business, and engage in a multidisciplinary approach to design intuitive and delightful experiences into all of our products. You will play a critical role in laying the foundation and shaping the future of the team as we are growing and scaling quickly.

What you'll be doing:

  • Drive our new operational strategy and owning and evolving a holistic design process

  • Build tools to empower and amplify designers as well as bridging disciplines

  • Ensure our design is executed to the highest quality across Product and Marketing initiatives

  • Embed into each specific project workflow to drive and improve the creative process in partnership with design leadership.

  • Facilitate and evolve the look and feel of Wish’s design language, its components and design patterns

  • Experience working on creating and maintaining cohesive and responsive design systems across multiple screen sizes (mobile, tablet, desktop)

  • Collaborate across design teams and engineers to develop a design systems library

  • Document design guidelines, make it accessible, and actively share knowledge on how to utilise the design system

  • Establish processes to help design teams strike a balance between evolving components vs leveraging existing components 

  • Work closely with our Communication and Marketplace teams to build a consistent Brand and UI experience across the whole customer journey

  • Work closely with engineers throughout the implementation stage to ensure a high level of quality in the final compositions

  • Partner with Product Managers, Engineers, Data Scientists, to define problems & goals, map user flows, prototype interactions, and launch new product features and services.

  • Apply the full breadth of your design skill set through copywriting, visual design, user research, and interactive design. 

  • Illustrate and conceptualize marketing materials for our global sellers to be successful in our platform.

  • Give and solicit feedback from designers and cross-disciplinary partners.

  • Executive in a fast-paced environment with ambiguity.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), HCI, or a related field or equivalent practical experience

  • Portfolio must showcase work relating to design systems. (ie How you designed and maintained a design system)

  • A strong understanding of interaction design, visual design and user experience (2-3 years of experience)

  • Experience designing high-quality interfaces, and experiences

  • The ability to articulate and explain your ideas to other designers, engineers and project managers

  • Experience working with React and its components

  • A strong eye for grids, visual patterns and pixel perfection

  • Ability to produce visual mockups using Figma or similar tools

  • Working proficiency and communication skills in verbal and written English

  • Have cross-platform design experiences (Web, Android, iOS, emails, print)

  • Have contributed as a design advocate and a strong collaborator with product managers and engineers
