YOUR MISSION

As the Sr. Manager, Product Design Operations you will have the unique opportunity to build and maintain the strategy for how product design works, creates, and delivers world class work. With a focus on operating procedures, at scale, and project health - you will be the brain to the designers arms. Additionally, you will manage the product design operations program and project managers in support of the product design workflows and pillars. 

What Sr. Manager, Product Design Ops handles:

  • Work with the Product Design leadership team to standardize and enhance our research and design practices and tools to create an environment in which designers, researchers and UX writers can thrive and deliver high-quality output
  • Deliver innovative operating procedures that can scale as the team grows to maximize efficiency and business impact 
  • Track project status and priorities to 1) ensure/manage communication and visibility with executive stakeholders, and 2) help allocate resources appropriately 
  • Serve as liaison with Engineering, Product Management, Marketing, Community and other teams to ensure clear, regular two-way communication and collaboration, and make sure interdependencies are understood and planned for 
  • Lead internal design team project planning and prioritization; work with design and research leads to understand, define and track success metrics for the user experience of the product ensuring the designers don’t lose sight of the business’s objectives
  • Monitor and identify team needs and resource gaps, and communicate recommendations to Product Design leadership 

YOUR PROFILE

  • Passion for and commitment to product excellence, along with a results-driven mindset and practical understanding of how to get things done 
  • The ability to understand early signals of a faltering project or process and who will proactively take measures to course correct 
  • Outstanding listening and communication skills, who can be direct, yet compassionate and tactful 
  • Sensitivity to different communication styles and team (and other types of) cultures 
  • Topnotch relationship-building skills, across all organizational levels and functions 
  • Deep empathy for the people you work with, create for, and lead 
  • Big-picture perspective, a solid grasp of the details, and the ability to easily and quickly toggle between them 
  • Insatiable curiosity, love of learning and desire to take on new challenges 
  • Experience in and understanding of how to lead/influence without authority 
  • Positive energy and enthusiasm for the work, team, product and company 

The top candidate will have: 

  • 5+ years' experience in operations or as a UX program manager, product manager, producer or similar role 
  • 1+ year of experience leading project delivery for large, cross functional projects 
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to define lean and scalable workflows and process improvements 
  • Exceptional organizational, time management, and prioritization skills 
  • Experience with UX design and research disciplines, tools, and processes 
  • Experience with Agile methodologies 
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills; ability to work successfully with teams across the organization 
  • Ability to articulate design decisions and advocate for the user
