About the role

Lattice is looking for a Senior Product Design Manager to lead a team of incredible designers who work across a wide portion of our platform.

  • As a manager, you will be responsible for helping to scale the Product Design team, its culture, and its operations through this exciting growth phase. You’ll also be expected to support, mentor, and coach the team’s members to their highest potential.
  • As a design leader, you will be responsible for helping to establish a vision and strategy that result in end-user experiences that redefine performance management. Also, you'll continue to up-level the team's craft and execution.
  • This role is excellent for managers and leaders who excel at storytelling, relationship building, and systems-thinking. This role will report to our Head of Design.

Who you are

You have 4+ years of professional experience managing and leading a Product Design team.

  • Ability to shape and evolve an inclusive recruiting practice that attracts world-class designers of diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain cohesion and cultivate a healthy design environment in a co-located, distributed, or remote world.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for improving team operations/efficiency backed by clear change management and implementation follow-through.
  • Ability to develop teams of designers to become the next generation of key contributors - investing in coaching, mentorship, and empowerment.
  • Knowledge of associated practices, including, User Research, UX Writing, Brand Design, and accessibility standards.

You have good experience establishing a vision and strategy that help to shape the future of the business.

  • Ability to communicate design's potential impact on business outcomes.
  • Ability to partner with Research to identify UX opportunities, then work cross-functionally to influence strategy at the product and platform level.
  • You have mastery in solving unstructured problems that have many dependencies and may have lengthy timelines. You seek out ambiguity and transform it into clear, actionable plans with cross-functional partners.
  • Ability to define and communicate clear expectations for excellence, then chart a course at the product and platform level.

You’re a great communicator, collaborator, and facilitator.

  • You're a compelling and confident storyteller.
  • You’re clear and concise in explaining your thought process and in enumerating the tradeoffs made in your work.
  • You effectively organize and lead discussions/rituals that build relationships, facilitate better collaboration, and ultimately improve the product and team culture.

Your responsibilities

  • Directly manage and support a team of 6+ Individual Contributors.
  • Scale this team of Product Designers to support Lattice's product ambitions over the coming years.
  • Nurture the team's culture and norms, evolving them in ways that work in a distributed world.
  • See around corners, identify inflection points, and carry out process changes that set the team up for success.
  • Set expectations and maintain high standards of quality of the team’s work; chart a clear course for how the team can get there over time.
  • Drive the team's UX vision and strategy, connecting their impact to the highest business outcomes.
  • Establish trust and build confidence with cross-functional partners and leadership across Product, Research, Engineering, and Customer Success; collaborate cross-functionally to deliver world-class experiences.
  • Act as a mentor, leader, and coach across the broader Design team, be the ambassador within and outside of Lattice.
