Who we are at Embroker

Embroker is the digital insurance company committed to transforming business insurance. With a radically simple approach, Embroker is replacing the 1970’s technology of the insurance industry, with a first-ever end-to-end digital insurance platform that provides better coverage and reduced cost; all in minutes, not hours. Founded in 2015 and headquartered in San Francisco, Embroker has raised over $150M of funding from leading fintech investors. Embroker is proud to be one of BuiltIn San Francisco's 2022 Best Mid-Sized Places to Work.

Radically Simple > Needlessly Complex.

The value of this position

Embroker is looking for a versatile, customer-centric, and self-driven designer to join our product development team to create dashboards, optimize user journeys, and improve the onboarding experience for brokers. As a Senior Product Designer at Embroker, you will work closely with product owners, engineers, and other designers in a hands-on role crafting innovative user experiences from customer research and initial concept, through launch and iteration. You will work in an environment quantified by Growth KPIs and looking for opportunities to impact business objectives. You will be at the forefront of disrupting the commercial insurance industry to enable delightful, end-to-end digital customer experiences at every touchpoint. You will be part of a global team of designers who develop and own the design vision for Embroker’s platform and product portfolio.

What you will own in this role

  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders, including product, engineering, marketing, sales and service to identify and document requirements, use cases and customer journeys.
  • Effectively communicate design decisions based on customer and usability research, content strategy and data analytics.
  • Translate product requirements, and strategy into wireframes, comps, prototypes, and other design documentation.
  • Identify new product improvement opportunities.
  • Stay up to date on current insurance industry trends and market conditions.
  • International travel once or twice a year.

What experience we think is the right fit

  • 5+ years of professional experience as a UX, product or interaction designer.
  • An online portfolio, demonstrating experience creating scalable end-to-end, user-centered design solutions across desktop and mobile devices.
  • Proven experience in all phases of the design process including user research, wireframing, prototyping, visual design, interaction design, and usability testing.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills with an ability to build consensus among other designers, product owners, and mid-level leadership.
  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines to drive change.
  • Experience impacting business KPIs and championing the use of experiments to grow the product.
  • Building, using, and maintaining a modular design system.
  • Ability to work in an agile environment.
  • Familiarity with JTBD methodologies.
  • Knowledge of the Atomic Design methodology.
  • Proficiency using collaborative design tools, such as Figma, Zeplin and Storybook.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of front-end technologies like CSS, HTML, React and JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with modern client-facing financial and/or insurance technologies.
  • Experience teaching and mentoring others.

Pack First - We succeed and fail as one team. We optimize for what is best for our entire organization. We always assume positive intent.

Create Magic - We strive to amaze and delight at every touchpoint. We make our work fun through teamwork, play, and positive energy.

Be All-In - We are 100% committed. We move fast and are proud of what we build. We attack challenges with relentless positivity.

We believe that systemic structures and practices disproportionately disadvantage the most marginalized people in society — including people of color, people from working-class backgrounds, women, and LGBTQ people. We believe that these communities must be represented and included in the work we do, to make our Pack stronger, more creative, and improve the way we do business. We strongly encourage applications from people with these identities or who are members of other marginalized communities.
