Our design program here at Sense is growing, and we are looking to hire a full time Product Design Specialist to own and evolve the UI & UX across all of our current and future products. We are looking for a creative and pragmatic designer—someone who will help us find solutions to user pain points we didn't know we needed to solve. This is a unique opportunity to help build the product design team from the ground up. Working closely with the rest of the org to figure out how to best solve our users problems.

Our product designers create complex wireframes, which they then turn into pixel-perfect, development-ready visuals.

Our mission is to improve the daily lives of recruiters at staffing firms. The biggest challenge to working at Sense is that our platform is complex. In order to schedule, organize, and augment recruiters daily work through automation means that our systems IA can get very challenging, very quickly. But also needs to feel easy to use.

You’ll be part of rotating project teams from the beginning until launch, working side by side with a PM, and the engineering team.

Requirements:

Designed and launched multiple products/major features/apps. This takes most people 5+ years, but it may vary depending on your past teams/employers.

Cut your teeth at a few companies designing great consumer facing or enterprise products.
Ability to demonstrate excellent use of typography, color, imagery, and graphic elements.

Ability to negotiate and articulate the “why” of design decisions. You’ll need to convince, to disagree confidently, take and give straightforward criticism.
Someone who uses a qualitative + quantitative understanding of customers to backup their design decisions

Ability to provide visual specification and production ready files to engineers.

A portfolio online or in PDF format

Nice to Have:

Someone who’s flexible and adapts quickly in a fast-paced, startup environment.

Someone who advocates for the user, but also knows how to weigh insights and recommendations in the context of business goals.

Someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys thinking out of the box, and always manages to stir up trouble.

Someone who works cross-functionally. Working across Product, Engineering, Marketing, BI, and Account Management to help the company make better decisions.

Someone looking to be part of a small team, we’re wanting to keep the UX team lean in the near future

The kind of people we like to work with are:

Full of empathy for users

Motivated more by shipping product than building a work of art

Excited that their designs will be validated by qualitative and quantitative research

Enthusiastic and possibly a little bit weird

Eager to move to a fast-paced environment
