Quizlet’s mission is to help students (and their teachers) practice and master whatever they are learning. Every month more than 50 million active learners from 130 countries practice and master more than 300 million study sets on every conceivable topic and subject. We are developing new learning experiences by modeling how students learn and drawing upon knowledge acquisition, retention, and pedagogy in cognitive science. We are always seeking to help students master any subject by optimizing study efficiency and engagement.

The Quizlet User Research team is looking for an empathetic, detail-oriented, and bold mixed methods user researcher to join our small but mighty team. We’re working to evolve from a focus on great user experiences to one whose great experiences are built on widespread empathy for the needs of learners all over the planet. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and executing research studies at the speed of sprints while also helping to develop research capabilities among other functional teams. Reporting to the head of user research, as an early/founding member of the research team, you’ll have the opportunity to fundamentally shape our methods, culture, and strategy as we grow.

Here are some ways you’ll make an impact:

- Plan and lead qualitative, quantitative, and data-supported design and market research studies of various scales to help inform product, marketing, design, and business strategies

- Collaborate with design, product and engineering teams to scope studies, build team empathy, and implement findings

- Coach and advise designers, product support specialists, and product managers conducting their own research projects

- Work with data analysts and scientists to discover insights in data to expand upon and further your own research

- Partner with our international organization to uncover critical insights as we expand to and focus on new markets

- Be one of the public faces of the Quizlet research team, evangelizing our brand in the public forums that you gravitate toward naturally

Are you our next Senior User Researcher?

- 4+ years of experience in a leading individual contributor role conducting qualitative user research, either in-house, on contract, or as a consultant

- Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in multiple research methods applied to varying goals and outcomes

- Clear capability to match research outputs and timelines to the rapid pace of web-based consumer software

- Outstanding collaborator who will make everyone around them more human-centered

- Excellent communication skills with a special focus on creative ways to tell the story of research projects in a memorable, engaging style

- Experience conducting research not just for products that haven’t yet been built, but mature ones with large user bases

- Some kind of bonus super-power not listed in the above!

- Every new hire should add to the culture, but we don’t know who will bring which skills to the table. Maybe you were a documentary filmmaker or audio producer in a past life. Perhaps you’re a data analyst or coder in a former or parallel life. Please let us know about it—we love interdisciplinary people

We hope you are excited about everything you read so far. We highly encourage you to apply for this position, even if you feel you do not meet all the requirements. Quizlet is always looking for amazing folks that believe in our mission and can contribute to our team in various ways - not merely candidates that fit a certain mold.
