ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

PAX Labs is looking for a Senior UX Designer to join the product team based in our SF headquarters. An ideal candidate would be someone who is driven and extremely passionate about the various aspects of User Experience Design across various platforms/mediums, such as mobile and web app platforms, hardware UI, out-of-box experiences, etc. This person must crave ownership and autonomy. At PAX, you get your chance to put your ideas into action in a fast-paced environment and work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, developers, eCommerce, and digital marketing channel owners.

This role is at the intersection of cutting-edge physical products, digital products, and design. This UX role is a unique opportunity to build new interactive experiences and engagement models. Moreover, designs get tested at scale and have robust data/analytics driving huge growth. This person must love challenges of operating in a scrutinized space and taking on huge incumbents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop user flows to help articulate screen flows, unboxing steps, etc, to contribute to system requirements
  • Build out user scenarios and identify key personas (some persona creation activities may be needed)
  • Support end user research including usability testing, user interviews, and metrics analysis to inform designs
  • Create detailed specifications of user interface interactions and designs (for packaging, hardware UI, etc)
  • Create user interface prototypes when necessary

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Must be proficient in Balsamiq, Sketch, InDesign or other wireframing tools
  • Must be adept with Adobe design suite
  • Expertise with your chosen tools like Creative Cloud or OmniGraffle and able to craft quick and pleasing prototypes in HTML/JavaScript, Axure, InVision, or similar
  • Interested in the latest web technologies and design trends
  • Background knowledge or interest in Usability Testing and User-Centered Design is a plus
  • Experience working in a fast-paced work environment with a lean, growing team. Previous experience in a startup is a plus
  • You have good taste and a keen sense of user experience in product design and bring a strong portfolio of work that you’re proud of
  • Experience working in a collaborative team and working directly with developers for implementation of designs
  • Ability to read and decipher front-end code desired (HTML, CSS, Javascript)

  • A self-starter who works with little or no supervision, has strong attention to detail, and a demonstrated ability to multi-task and respond quickly to changing priorities.
  • A “can do” attitude and willingness to pitch in, add value
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Education:

  • BS in human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience
  • You have 4+ years experience doing software or hardware user experience design
