Senior UX Researcher, Creators
Discord is a complex product with a ton of moving parts, communities, and diverse users. As such, the Research team is keen on hiring an empathetic, mixed-methods teammate that can achieve impactful results to our company and serve both product and business teams.
The Creator team is focused on helping creators, admins, and moderators build, run and even monetize successful communities. Discord is home to thousands of communities from Harry Potter fandoms to high profile music artists and your research will help shape the future of that product.
In addition to conducting research of your own, you'll also help democratize research across the company by serving as a consulting expert for the myriad of colleagues who want to conduct their own research and aren't sure where/how to start.

What you'll be doing
- Work with Product Managers, Product Marketers, Data Science, and Design to uncover research needs
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative research focused on moving product strategy forward (emphasis on foundational, generative work)
- Consult with XFN colleagues/non-researchers at Discord on best practices to help them to implement their own work. This means education, evangelization, and empowerment!
- Contribute to best practices for a healthy, lean research organization (we are only barely a year old!)
- Partner with/own relationships with vendors to ensure our teams' research needs are met
- Advocate research findings to diverse audiences through a variety of deliverables
- 8+ years of UX research experience
- Bachelor's or Masters in a human behavior related field (or equivalent/demonstrable work experience)
- Experience educating stakeholders about various research methods (whether novel/creative or standardized) and advocating for impactful research to be done
- Experience performing all research-related cycle tasks — including requirements gathering, planning, recruiting participants, executing, analyzing, creating deliverables, forming solid product recommendations, insights workshops/post-mortems
- You are an effective communicator, concise in your reporting and able to communicate actionable insights for product, design, and marketing
- Experience working collaboratively with other researchers and partners, and bringing out the best in them
- Experience soliciting feedback on your own work and adding value to others' work
- Experience working with stakeholders and are comfortable being a strategic partner in product decisions
- You've conducted a fair number of remote studies.
- You've worked on a myriad of 0->1 projects from either a product or company perspective.
- You understand the ins and outs of Discord.
