As a Visual and Product Designer at Sage Intacct, you will work collaboratively with other UX designers, user researchers, product leaders, and engineers to make our vision of revolutionizing ease for business applications a reality. In your role, you will lead design throughout the planning and development lifecycle, creating compelling, effective user experiences and to shape the Sage Intacct design system.

This role defines the look, feel, and interaction of our entire product experience, and the foundational building blocks of our software for Customers and Partners. You will set up our product design team for success by creating and improving our product design language for iOS, Android, and Web. This is a unique opportunity to help shape a fast-growing enterprise software company.

The role is both strategic and hands on. In the strategic arena you will partner with product management to understand our users and to help set vision and priorities for the design system. In the hands on arena you will drive and create the detailed designs that will be used to deliver the core parts our entire software ecosystem.

The position requires a laser-like customer focus, a data-driven approach, and the ability to thrive in a team-oriented, product-focused environment. The ideal candidate will be driven by the challenge of solving unique UX problems in a compressed timeframe while balancing the needs of the business and the constraints of the medium. The role will require someone comfortable with some ambiguity/ minimal direction and can thrive in rapidly evolving environments.

This position will be located in our downtown San Jose, CA office.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and update the Sage Intacct Design System and patterns that will allow product designers and front-end engineers to focus on product-level problems and ship high-quality work efficiently and consistently
  • You will collaborate and act as a liaison with the Sage corporate Design System team to incorporate the Sage brand and design elements into the Sage Intacct Design System
  • Establish beautiful, expressive, and intuitive visual, motion, and interaction design with principles and patterns, across all our products and platforms, like Web, iOS, and Android
  • Provide guidelines and documentation that connects and resonates with the teams using our design systems.
  • Work with Product Designers, Software Engineers, and Design Technologists to develop and ship the system
  • Write documentation and guidance on how and why components, styles, and patterns are applied in code and design.
  • Act as the Design System ambassador. Articulate design decisions to product design, brand design, engineering and product.
  • Contribute to creating end-to-end user experiences for existing and new product offerings that simplify the user's workflow.
  • Collaborate with product managers to create designs that meet the user and business requirements.
  • Effectively communicate conceptual ideas, design rationale and the specifics of user centered design process.
  • Quickly create and iterate on designs using conceptual diagrams, wireframes, and click-through prototypes. Deliver clear, detailed design specs that follow the Sage Intacct Design System.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, visual designer or similar role, participating in the complete product development lifecycle of several successfully launched web and/or software applications.
  • At lease 2 years of experience as a design systems or product designer at an enterprise software company, contributing to or leading the design and visual execution of product experiences.
  • Proficiency in a variety of design and prototyping tools such as Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, InVision, Marvel, Figma, etc.
  • Fluency in user-centered design best practices and trends across web and mobile platforms, as well as knowledge of usability principles and techniques.
  • Familiarity with the technical considerations and technologies needed when designing for web and mobile platforms, especially that scale to the mid-market.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and persuasion skills with cross-functional teams and stakeholders; experience working in a collaborative team and working directly with developers for implementation of designs.
  • Strong bias for action; ability to juggle multiple priorities and deliver in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • A compelling online portfolio of sketches, wireframes, prototypes, hi-res comps, etc. that clearly expresses your ability to create successful user-centered design solutions, design systems, and product design work.

  • You are comfortable expressing and recommending tradeoffs on design decisions.
  • You think in systems; you can see how all the parts fit together, and how a small change can propagate throughout the system.
  • You care about the details and the craft of your designs and how those designs get translated on a deep level.
  • You understand how your designs will be implemented and can collaborate with design technologists to add it to the system.
  • You can anticipate how aspects of the design system will be used by designers and developers, and design for the best default user experience.
  • You understand how visual design and interaction design work together to make design intuitive and delightful.
