About the role

We’re seeking an exceptional senior product designer to join Point’s growing design team! Come collaborate with a passionate, supportive team dedicated to improving the lives of homeowners and home buyers across the nation. Your talents for understanding and empathizing with people and designing elegant solutions for them will play a critical role in Point’s continued success. 

Since Point was founded, we’ve designed industry-leading customer education around our innovative home equity product, leading to unprecedented demand. Now it’s time to scale—you’ll be researching new customer types for new product lines, improving our funnel conversion, and bringing a fresh eye to our internal underwriting tools. You’ll uncover inefficiencies and design solutions that lessen cognitive overhead for our team, lowering business costs and increasing speed of funding.

Your responsibilities

  • You’re experienced in conducting user research and interviews. You can synthesize your findings in powerfully communicative mediums including personas, storyboards, and customer journeys that align and unite the larger team.
  • You have an intuitive sense for designs that work and make sense to the end user, but you’re always willing to get outside yourself and listen to the data.
  • Your empathy doesn’t stop at the customer—you strive to understand your teammates’ perspectives and goals and you’re considerate when delivering feedback.
  • You’re obsessed with the details. You’ll pour yourself into whatever work you do, whether that’s a final design, written document, or developer spec.
  • You’re an articulate communicator able to challenge assumptions and persuasively evangelize your ideas.
  • You’re a clever visual storyteller with a well-developed eye for layout, hierarchy, color, and typography.
  • You’re pragmatic—you understand that development timelines and business requirements often require creative compromises. 

You have 

  • Strong design portfolio.
  • 5+ years of experience designing consumer products.
  • Fintech experience helpful, but not required.

Flexible remote & onsite work

Fully paid parental leave

Point will true-up wages from state-applicable PFL earnings so that the employee’s total gross pay will be equivalent to 100% of their regular base pay, as well as two weeks of fully paid leave to be available after exhaustion of state PFL. 

For employees in states without Paid Family Leave, Point will provide up to 8 weeks of paid parental leave. 

In addition, all employees will receive 4 weeks of fully paid transition time. For four weeks after returning from parental leave, and following the use of all other paid leave benefits, you may work part-time, meaning two or three days per week, and receive 100% of regular base pay.

The expected base salary range for Technical roles (e.g. Engineering, Product, Design) at this level within Point is  $124,800 to $234,000 per year. This does not include any other potential components of the compensation package, including equity, benefits, and perks outlined above. At the launch of each position we benchmark compensation to the appropriate role and level utilizing competitive compensation data from various data sources as references. At the offer stage we use  the signal we received from our interviews coupled with your experience, location, and other job-related factors to determine final compensation.

Location

Currently with Covid, our offices are our homes, so we've got a variety of neighborhoods! Our office is centrally located off the PA Caltrain stop.
