Blend is looking for an experienced user researcher to help our design team discover opportunities and validate design solutions to complex personal banking and home-buying problems. Our ideal candidates would have a proven track record of quickly creating impact using adaptive research and validation approaches throughout the enterprise product lifecycle. We are seeking someone who loves bringing designers and other stakeholders along for the journey and teaches us all how to deliver insights in a fast-paced enterprise startup culture. Ideally, this person would be enthusiastic about innovating for fintech by helping deliver delightful solutions for all types of users of financial products. 

How you'll contribute:

  • Identify key research opportunities in partnership with product design, product management and engineering
  • Apply a wide variety of qualitative research methods in response to the needs of product and design
  • Work directly with product design to inform and validate effective solutions to user problems
  • Lead the process of generating insights that fuel ideation and evaluate designs
  • Facilitate research with product designers to foster an environment of shared ownership of user outcomes Teach us, help us be better user advocates
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align and synthesize as team. Report insights and recommendations to EPD leadership 
  • Advise on and validate the optimal solutions for comprehensive design for accessibility
  • Use data and customer feedback to make design decisions

Who you are:

  • 5 years of relevant work experience within User Experience, Human-Computer Interaction, applied research setting, and/or product research and development
  • Experience conducting insightful qualitative interviews directly with enterprise users
  • Experience utilizing various methods including but not limited to usability studies, contextual inquiry, and surveys
  • Relevant product research experience, either in an end-to-end, usability, or generative setting
  • Case Studies demonstrating a systematic approach to complex product problems
  • Examples of design solutions showing a systematic approach, thinking and designing in frameworks, ecosystems, and shared patterns
  • A history of delivering consistent and uniform style guides and component libraries

Bonus Points!

  • Preferred, not required: Master's degree or PhD in a related field
  • BA/BS degree in Anthropology, Human-Computer Interaction(HCI), Human Factors, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field or equivalent practical experience
