About the Role
The ML Infrastructure team is growing and we are looking for a seasoned engineering leader to lead this team. Nuro is pursuing an ML-first software stack. Our team provides solutions to empower machine learning development in Nuro and optimize offboard training and onboard inference. Our solutions include a distributed training platform, ML compiler, model components libraries, e.t.c

About the Work

  • Define and execute the technical vision and roadmap for the ML Infrastructure team
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of approximately 15~20 engineers, including managers and senior individual contributors, promoting a culture of technical excellence, collaboration.
  • Drive the development of distributed training systems on GPU/TPU, ensuring resiliency, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Drive the development of cutting-edge model optimization pipelines and tools, including quantization, distillation, compiler optimizations, and other techniques to reduce latency and improve performance.
  • Represent ML Infrastructure within the broader engineering organization and to executive leadership, communicating technical strategies, milestones, and challenges.

About You

  • Deep technical expertise in ML infrastructure, with a strong background and hands-on experience in building and scaling distributed training systems and / or model optimization techniques (quantization, distillation, compiler).
  • Proven leadership experience managing and growing high-performing engineering teams, with a demonstrated ability to mentor and inspire technical talent.
  • In-depth knowledge of state-of-the-art machine learning and systems engineering practices, with the ability to translate cutting-edge research into production-grade infrastructure.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with a bias towards action and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, and the capacity to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders at various levels.
  • Work in fast-paced, dynamic environments
  • You are passionate about accelerating the benefits of robotics for everyday life.

At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected base pay range is between $222,775 and $333,925 for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.
